Intel vs AMD

K so I have two options that are around the same price. 2500k, gd65, and hd 6850 OR X4 955, ASUS M4A79XTD EVO, and hd 6950 2gb

I will probably be able to CF the 6850 also. Its mostly a gaming build

Intel, unless your poor then go AMD. Intel is superior in every way.

Personally the only thing I think an AMD chip is good for is the money after I sell it.

2500k is much more powerful than a 955, but a 6950 is much more powerful than a 6850, what games are you going to be playing?

AMD build because you can get the 6950, the 955 won't bottleneck the card.'

If you're limited to ONLY and ONLY those two configs, the AMD one blows to dust the Intel in terms of gaming.

The HD6950 has about 50% more power than the HD6850 and between the two processors there isn't a difference you're gonna notice when gaming.

Note I said GAMING. We all know the Sandy is much more powerful than the Deneb.

Seriously though, it's entirely your choice.
Sandy Bridge is SUPERIOR to the Phenom II.
The only POSSIBLE pro that I can think of with AMD is you can wait for Bulldozer...but that's a gamble.
Even if Bulldozer doesn't match up to, or is superior to SB, it will be priced accordingly.
Your choice OP.

For gaming, even a 2500k is overkill.
Futureproofing isn't a bad idea though.
