Thinking about switching

Thread Starter
So I have been thinking about switching from AMD to Intel my system is current and up to date in my sig and profile. (My CPU is overclocked to 4.2Ghz stable and NB to 2800Mhz stable) (Also using watercooling setup)

I usually do nothing but game hardcore and I love to always see the most performance I can get out of my system. The 955 and Mobo I actually purchased about 2 months ago and I was debating between intel and AMD at the time but my money situation wasn't as good as it is now so I went with AMD.

Basically I'd love to get a sandybridge motherboard that supports SataIII and USB 3.0 that is somewhere in the range of $200. I'd also like to a CPU that is basically one of the best or better ones for also around $200.

Sorry to seem a bit noobish or dumb, but I literally do not know much about intel or what they can do in terms of OCing or even how they compare to AMD(All I know is people say Intel is superior to AMD). Any motherboard and CPU setups anyone can recommend would be amazingly helpful!

With your price range and pc usage, you are probably looking (what I have):
the i5 2500K http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-072-_-Product

and the Asus P8P67 Pro http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...3&Tpk=p8p67pro

Both together will run you about $400. Most people are running a 24/7 OC at 4.5 to 4.9 on Air. But I'm sure your planning on using your water cooling system, so you should be able to go higher.

Well I can wait I mean I'm not dieing to go crazy now. I'm just not sure what or where I should go from my Phenom 955. Debating if I want to goto intel with the sandybridge or wait for bulldozer, I'm just not sure the pro's and con's of either or.

One thing that is driving me mad is the fact I have to use an SLI hack to get my 2 460's working on my AMD mobo

Totally agree with you, wait for bulldozer then when it come out, wait for ivy bridge then when ivy bridge come out wait for foververbridge etc , a non end circle. Just upgrade already, no one regret going with sandy bridge, its is the best cpu of price/performance ever made and just for this aspect alone, u must upgrade.
