Does anyone have ASUS M4N68T-M MOBO with Phenom II X4 955 BE Need help with OC!!! - Page 2

K just uploaded my specs to the user CP for you. Tried some of the suggested settings above at 3.6Ghz but got terrible performance. I'm confused though you're saying my processor isn't good for overclocking? So many other threads people have this processor at 3.8 or 4Ghz, I even bought the black edition because it said it's the best for overclocking due to the multiplier. If it's my motherboard that's the problem then I can get a new one but if I can't expect much from this then it's not really worth it...

*edit-question for httuner and xd- vddnb is for cpu-nb on asus ? ive raised it all the way to 1.5 and never could get stable without an error on 1 core or more. probable its my ram voltage though. 2.2-2.4v and im skeered as hell to go past the 2.4v*
VDDNB is for CPU-NB on some Asus motherboards, I've had a asus M4A77D motherboard that showed VDDNB instead of CPU-NB so I know forsure that its the same thing as CPU-NB Voltage.

You should only raise this voltage if you're overclocking the Northbridge frequency from my understandings.

Your processor is great, your Motherboard is the problem due to its power delivery setup(Phase) to the CPU, stressing this power delivery setup can cause you're motherboard to go up in smokes(start fire kind of thing) So stressing it with more voltage can cause you problems.

Thats why I suggested that you might not want to push it past 3.6ghz for everyday usage(To save your motherboard from burning up). Although you might be able to do 3.8ghz with some added cooling to your mosfets. 4.0ghz is really pushing the board and you might want to stay away from 4.0ghz. (Considering the more voltage it would take to achieve 4ghz)

I was going by this, that sounded like it meant that I can't get much of an overclock with the 4 core phenom processor.

On the first page I posted a link to Canada Computers I usually get my gear there it's really inexpensive. Are there any motherboards on there in the under $75 range that would work for me or do I need a much more expensive one? Not trying to be cheap it's just I bought this machine new barebones, THEN started gettin ginterested in gaming and overclocking etc and basically have replaced almost everything lol. I think under $75 is reasonable to have to spend to get more performance but if I need a more expensive board I'll prob hold off until I feel my machine is too slow

http://www.overclock.net/amd-motherb...hase-list.html
here is an excellent list compiled by reflex and xd.
from what i interpret, green is great, yellow is good and red is, omghorribleomg FIRE!!
good luck on finding something great. lol. good is good just dont expect overclock miracles with the 4+1 boards.
personally i really like my board. i added mosfet heatsinks but im limited on my overclock. partially the board, partially the chip.

*bah* you guys and your ddr3 mobo

ASUS boards won't go up in smoke, they throttle the processor or perform instant shut down when the VRMs get too hot as protection. I see this happening alot with low end ASUS 3+1, 4 phase, or 4+1, on 125W processors. If your benches/etc. are getting terrible performance, then it might be this downclocking.

I'll check out that list, will look at all the green ones and see pricing etc then post back to see if one of them would be better to get thoughts.

Hey there, can you confirm this mobo would support overclocking then? The ASUS M4A87TD. Found it at my computer place, doesn't say Evo like the list does though? http://www.canadacomputers.com/produ...item_id=030936 Also this one GA-870A-UD3 the Gigabyte http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...pk=GA-870A-UD3 which would be best?
