I'm kind of drawn to the Desire Z because of the flip-out QWERTY keyboard, or is this a pretty useless feature in practice?

For the record: I've been using an HTC Touch Diamond for the past 2,5 years.
My friend has a HTC Desire Z and he says he recharges every day. It has the same battery specs (1300 mAh) as my HTC Legend and I usually last around 24 hours, less if I use the browser and Wifi/Data more.

Keep in mind, I have a custom ROM installed running Gingerbread (Enhanced battery life and less bloatware) and my screen brightness is almost the minimum.

I don't think it could last 3 days.

That's too bad as my current Touch Diamond could make that. So in the battery duration department, I would be downgrading? (I hate downgrading in any way, haha)

I guess you could think of it like that.

You may lose some battery life but you gain a whole lot more. Larger screen, higher resolution, better camera, better OS and better specs in general.

My old Sony Ericsson W810i lasted me a whole week at times, sometimes two without charging. Why? I had no internet, barely any games, a few songs and a horrid camera. Would I take that over a smartphone, of course not.

Think of it as you gain a whole lot more in sacrifice of some battery life.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think there's a smartphone out there that could last three days with daily use.

There people who use two batteries when they're out, in case one dies mid-day.

On a side note, what's so bad about charging every night?

I live somewhere else on weekends, and occasionally I forget my charger. Guess I'll just buy a spare one.

You're going to have to recharge every 24 hours or so unless you barely use it..not going to change without an aftermarket battery solution..

If you want a high end phone then get a 4G phone and dual core is a must to future proof yourself over the course of two years. I got my G2x the day it came out in stores. The first one I had to return because it would randomly lock up and only a battery pull would undo this but the one I have now is perfectly fine. My grandma has the Thunderbolt and while it is a nice device and the SRS on videos sounds nice and it runs smoothly, I don't think it's worth getting seeing these new devices that are coming out.

So if you have T-Mobile go for the G2x or wait for the Galaxy S2 (I went with the G2x because I prefer Vanilla Android). Verizon has dual core phones releasing soon, as well as just about every other carrier.
