I read this alot, and I understand it. My 560 1GB @ 1920x1080 never uses all its vRAM, but I sometimes see the 6950 2GB will bench better than the 6950 1GB at only 1920x1080. Are they different internally?

This even shows the 2GB doing slightly better at 1680x1050 also.

I know for a fact, BlackOps @ 1920x1080, Extra Detail 16AF and 8AA will not use more than 1GB DDR5, not even close.

Could be anything, black ops doesn't have a fixed benchmark and it's not the most stressful game anyway, and it's poorly coded so does it matter?

I was faced with the same exact decsion at micro center lastnite the 560ti was 50bucks less had great oc reveiws, when the 560 is oced to max it ussally beats the 6950stock and is very close to 6970 in alot of benches

It also runs a lil cooler from wat ive read and the power is pretty close and the 560 is smaller if u have a small case i dont i just liked the 560 oc potential and the 2gb 6950 only matters for evefinity the 1gb is cool for 1920x1080p

im happy with my choice always buy nvidia but ati almost had me this time owell maybe next time to me 50bucks is enuff to change my mind and a 20 mail in rebate so really was only 230.00 im happy but u could get a 6950 2gb cheaper somwere than 300.00 im sure of that i was at micro center and wanted a card that day

oh and i have a gigabyte mobo and an amd cpu and no compatabilty problems so far except i had to oc my cpu from 3.4stock to 3.7 at 3.4 the cpu was bottle neckin me and my gpu usage was droppin to 50% in maffia 2 i oced the cpu and now the 560 stays at 95% usage and up

The only instance in which getting a GTX 560 Ti would make sense is if you plan on folding and gaming. If you over-clock the GTX 560 Ti to around 975MHz/1950MHz Core/Shaders and 4600MHz Memory you get the same PPD as a GTX 580, which is pretty amazing.

jeeze lots of feedback here!

how about for MY rig a 550 watt psu, single monitor, dont really have many games but thats because my vid card is garbage now.

I like the 560 because the msi model has a really nice cooling design.
I like the 6950 but 2gigs of memory seems a little superfluous. however futureproof it may be! this unlocking thing isn't something i want to bank on.

The thing is, most people don't take into consideration you can OC the hell outta' a GTX 560 and make it perform about GTX 570 level.

Okay i like the 6950 2gb model...

MSI or Sapphire

I've owned plenty of msi mobos and theyve always been great.

I've owned one sapphire x1800gto from back in the day.

i really just kinda want which ever one will stay cooler and i guess.. unlock?
