Hexacore > Dual core (even if unlocked to quad)
4x2 > 2x2 (more memory beats slightly higher mhz)
6850 only slightly slower than a 5850

So yeah your dads is much better

Not really sure I see the point of telling Smoblikat that his Dad has a way better system, particularly since, as he said, they have different intentions for how they'll be using their systems. Also I imagine there were probably budgetary considerations. Having said that, I don't really know much about AMD processors.

@Smoblikat:

I'm looking at getting a Rosewill Blackhawk, but I can't seem to find many pictures of the empty case or how it looks filled with gear, so please post any pictures you've got (or take some more if you're feeling nice ). I was going to take the three hard drive cages out to try to fit a 2x120mm rad in the front - can you tell me what the distance between the bottom of the lowest HDD cage to the bottom of the 5.25 drive bays is? Thanks a million!

Plus also the OP asked for comments, so Smoblikat gave him one. But the problem is that what he said was quite close to the truth of the matter. Also the 6850 has better tessellation performance as far as I was aware.

Here are some Blackhawk pics.

That's a nice solid rig for gaming. Should serve you well for quite a while. What games are you planning to max out on what resolutions?

You should do a build log, it'd be epic to see you put this rig together.
