Asus 1000ha netbook

I've been having an issue with my netbook that I haven't been able to figure out; maybe the community knows better?

I have an asus 1000ha netbook that I'd like to fix up before I sell it so that I can upgrade my computer; but it has a wierd problem: the wifi won't work. Sometimes but rarely the computer will boot up with the wifi card listed in bios and the wifi works for that session but under normal circumstances the wifi card won't show up in bios and then doesn't show up under device manager: as if it didn't exist. I have tried both ubuntu and xp (the one it came w/) and the same problem occurs either way. I purchased a replacement wifi card on ebay to see if that fixed the problem but I had the same issue. When my cousin visited and bought a matching model, I grabbed his wifi card and tried it and that had the same issue also. Is it a motherboard issue or something maybe? I couldn't find anyone else with this issue when google searching.

Assuming its not fixable, how much should I sell it for? usb wifi adapters work fine on it; tested that to make sure

Thank you very much!

Have you tried restoring the OS from the recovery partition?

Recovery partition doesn't exist after entire disc had been wiped to install linux as the primary os. However, recovery disc had been used.
