I'll prob play Mafia 2 next, and then finally finish Crysis after that...

You're in for a treat, Mafia 2 is a brilliant game.

I quit WoW cos I'm sick of spending all the nights raiding and not getting enough sleep and feeling like crap the next day.

I would play if there were any weekend guilds, but everyone wants to make a 24/7 heroic mode hardcore super duper competative guild.

I don't know what to do. I want to play games, but I don't - it's hard to explain. There are a few gems out there that are fun, Borderlands, The Witcher, etc.. but nothing really appeals to me anymore and the few games that do i've played through many times.

I think WoW permanently destroyed my gaming appeal.

Thoughts?
Games like wow play on what are called your saturn aspects. Your saturn aspects are whatever parts of your personality that will expend any and all amounts of energy to "conquer" or finish something. Games like wow are entirely unfinishable as they contain treadmill after treadmill after treadmill. So you simply play them until you exhaust your saturn aspects and then you become somewhat depressed because you've been focusing energy onto something that doesn't loop back and re-feed you creatively.
Now when you get back on some other game with some other treadmill you get bored because you never got the reward from the original exhausting wow.

you sound smart!!!

Anyways...
I troll, I troll, but seriously, I agree with what you said. It does seem harder to enjoy life when totally addicted to games. My previous computer broke down and I finally got a life...

This is the reason why I rarely buy video games... I only buy the ones I know I will want to play one month after I buy it

I have had this same issue for a while now, I end up wasting all of my time not being productive or even truly enjoying myself. I played starcraft 2 for a while but after taking a break after being in diamond league(when that was the highest), I came back and the meta game had changed and I felt like I was back to square one. I played a few games but I just couldn't get back into as the game had evolved with so many strategies that I didn't know how to use or play against. I still like the community and watch day9 from time to time but can't will myself to play the game anymore.

i think it would be interesting to have everyone post their age with their thoughts. It would give alot more context.

I am 27 and I can say i'm really getting bored with gaming. It's been like this since I came back from Iraq over a year ago. I just realized there was too much else I wanted to try and do, and after looking at that *****h0le it seems like there is more to do than sit in front of a screen.

Lately, much of my time has been spent getting my car ready for the track. This is the one time (married, no kids, getting out of army(using leave)) that I'll have to do this before the next 'stage' in life. Today I spent about 8 hours just wrenching on the car. Next track day will be APR 30 and MAY 1 @ Carolina Motorsports Park. It's gonna be awesome! I;ve been learning alot about cars and mechanical stuff, it's been great!

I also like shooting (real) things in my spare time. I have 2 handguns. I'm looking to buy a shotty and a carbine of some type, probably an AR10. I need more money for my hobbies.

I am in school to get my sec+ cert. Next up after that will be cisco cert, hopefully b4 I get out of the army.

All that being said though, I am still looking forward to Mass Effect 3 and Battlefield 3. The only way I will continue playing beyond the initial 'this is cool' phase is if I like the people playing and I find a group to play with, probably tactical gamer. com. I have wanted to get back into BFBC2, but just haven;t since car season is starting up. I've been playing NFS shift 2 unleashed to feed my car addiction....

Yeah looks like we all have similar thoughts on this.

BC2 online really ruined 90% of FPS games for me, the rewards/rank/unlocks are what keeps me going.

Seeing your mates and their stats just gives you the urge to beat theirs and this can drive you for months/years.

The only shooters I can now enjoy are Bioshock 1, Half Life series, Crysis 1 - And even then I still can't play them like i used to.

I'm convinced it's the reward system that does it, you feel like you accomplish something plus the competition with friends/community. I'm basically repeating what everyone else has said aren't I

I am going to need Portal 2 and Battlefield 3 to give my gaming new life

Seriously guys, there's plenty of better games out there (compared to WoW).

I play around 10 games a year at most.

The quality has certainly gone down when the new consoles hit the market. Nowadays many high ranked big budged titles are dumbed down and half as interesting compared to games a decade ago.

I totally Agree, Even though I have quite a good number of games, It seems i'm bored, I often play Lan with WC3 with my Brother, that keeps my time at bay for the meantime, waiting for Portal 2 to be released, and another few good games myself.
