Not really. The X is there just for.. marketing I guess. This is not like X79 chipset for 2011. Gigabyte probably put the X there just because it may sound cool, and I don't think this is like the X58-OC, they are pretty much 2 different boards.

STOP blocking off the top PCI-E 1x slot... geeze what is the point. 3x GPU + Soundcard never gonna happen.

Hmm, same price as the P67 UD7, which is a good sign.

This is p67X-ud3r... As the pic shows it supports sli and the pci-e split from 16 to 8x 8x not like ud3r 8x 4x. Also it has more oc features and better vrm design. Its a cheap board with high oc potential. I thin gigabyte will follow up with the addition of "X" to the name.
Some info that i gathered about this board: 8x/8x sli/xfire
10 levels of loadline calibration
PWM frequency adjustable
Etrontech USB 3.0 controller
new Marvell 9172 SATA 6Gbps controller

With the F3 bios Gigabyte just updated, I can adjust the load line calibration by 10 levels (previously was 2 on the UD7). I have it set at level 5, which keeps my voltage exactly where it should be with a negligible amount of v-droop. Been able to adjust my settings from 1.285v at 4.4 GHz to 1.27v at 4.4 GHz with roughly 10 hours of prime. I still got a lot of testing to do though.

If you use any other PCI-E / PCI slot on the board, does the single GPU slot drop from 16x down to 8x?

Not on the UD7, since it is running on an NF200 chip. The PCI-E slot and the one below it will run at 16x if two dual slot cards are plugged into em. Otherwise, the lines will be split into 8x.
