HTPC Sandy Bridge Driver Problem

Thread Starter
So, I built myself a nice little Mini-itx htpc using the new i3-2100t and I was planning on just using the onboard graphics since all this would be used for is just streaming movies, playing blu-rays, and netlfix/hulu. Built it, everything posts no problem. Install win 7 home premium and start installing all the drivers necessary. Restart it, and the video goes to static. Boot into safe mode, then uninstall the graphics driver. Restart and no problems. The resolution is crap obviously but I have absolutely no issues what so ever with anything else, used it for a couple of hours. Tried getting drivers from the bundled CD, Intel website, and the Gigabyte website. Same thing happens after uninstalling then installing the graphics driver. Planning on RMAing the board. Figured I'd ask the OCN community if anyone new of anything that could solve this or what the root cause is.

HTPC specs:
Intel i3-2100t
Gigabyte GA-H67N-USB3-B3
Samsung Blu-ray drive
4GB (2X2gb) Mushkin Mem
WD 250 HDD
64GB Crucial C300 SSD (boot)
Thermaltake Element Q with 220W PSU
Win 7 Home Premium (fully updated)

TL;DR - Intel HD3000/2000 Graphics driver screwing up in HTPC build. Thinking something wrong with motherboard, not quite sure.

Well... I don't have any experience with H67 or the on-die graphics. Have you called ASUS and Intel to ask for help?

I ended up talking with someone from Intel. He said it could be either the monitor, cable, proc., or motherboard. He suggested to try and flash the bios if there was a newer version available. The board shipped with an earlier revision, and I tried flashing it to the latest one out. It still does the same thing. I've tried it with my two monitors and tv with different HDMI cables. I placed an order with Newegg for an ASRock mini-itx board and I have an RMA set up for this one. I'm all out of ideas except for faulty hardware somewhere.

The weird thing is that it works completely fine in safe mode or if there is no Intel driver installed. I was using it for a whole bunch in the crappy low res mode. Hopefully when I get the new motherboard in I can see if it will work. Its gonna be a pain to switch out motherboards cause its in a small itx package.

Yea, I have tried two different cables and three different displays. They all do the same thing. Unfortunately I've been busy working on a different computer problem/project (I've been having great luck lately lol) so I haven't had any good time to try to get in touch with Gigabyte to see if they had any more suggestions. When I get out of work tonight, I should be getting a replacement board in so I can just try that one and see if I can get anywhere with it.

Turns out it was the motherboard. I received the ASRock replacement board yesterday and went through and installed all my drivers and everything works perfectly now. I just have to go back and reinstall the cpu cooler with some new paste and I'll be up and running.
