its ok no worries, i got the board fixed by the end of the week, a super fast 2 day RMA lol.
Anyways did my DICE run tonight.
After reading a bunch of your guys threads, i also asked hicookie what he does. he just uses grease and a ton of it. So what i did was go out and buy conformal coat in teh form of clear ultra gloss spray paint suggested by another bencher on XS, then i went a bought eraser like you guys suggested, i went and bought two type of dielectric grease, because they didn't have my old kind anymore. I then bought 10lbs of DICE. needless to say i had to wait a day and a half for the coating to dry, and almost all my DICE was gone, but i used what i had to play with and then I tried out the freezing point of different things, i was told the materials used should be able to do -50C for LN2 stability, as the materials wont get much colder than that. My 3M wall tac was just as good as the kneading eraser, if not better. I mixed the two, and one grease was better suited so i used that.
So i pushed grease into the socket and all over where i conformal coated. I pushed it into all the cracks. Then i used eraser on top of it, and i know people told me not to do this, but i did anyways. It worked fine, yea it was messy, but id rather i didn't kill this board again. I put neoprene over that then i set it all up:
Everything went without a hitch:
And then this is the best i could do with my 930, its a ****ty CPU, only does 220 on air on every board i have tried.
Anyways my IOH temps were in the 60s because of the ghetto heatsink didn't even have a hold down. Next time it shoudl do better when i cool the IOH:
Thanks for your help guys, and thanks Noguru for the neoprene!
OC board is sick
