a little maturity goes a long way.

Also, whining about it on this computer forum won't really make a difference in the long run. If you want to make a difference, alert XFX/AMD/Best Buy of this problem, email their corporate offices or call their corporate offices.
It believe it does make a difference, let me explain with this analogy:

You are a member of a respected community and there is a thief going around targeting homes in the area. Would you rather have a victim in the community speak up and alert everyone else in addition to the authorities that this has happened so you can take the proper precautions or would you rather find out the hard way before said authorities can make the necessary statements to the community.

Not saying XFX are thieves, just trying to say that Phaedrus is doing us a favor by letting the OCN community know of this before anyone goes out and purchases the same suspect card.

Moral of this story: Patience

I don't see why you couldn't have waited to get the 5770

Letting us know that the HD 6770 are not working right now and not to buy it is fine, great even. I have no problem with that.

His title did also add "(and SCREW XFX)"
That part is just immature.

For your example of the thief robbing people, its like warning people there's multiple robberies around the neighborhood, and then adding "AND SCREW YOU ADT" for not stopping the robberies for everyone.

Just to give everyone a heads up. I just spoke to AMD and they are not supporting the 6770 card for retail. Mark stated they have talked about releasing it to retail but have not made this step as of yet. He also checked all driver files to see if they had a driver for the 6770 and the 6750. He stated they do not have any support for these. He also checked the beta 11.4 and there is no plans to have a 6770 driver on there either. If anyone has rights to other sites like overclock.net please post this info there too.

So yeah, so much for the shipping early theory I guess? If it's early, it's reeeaaaallly early.

Judging from some of the hate going around here, I'm guessing that many (Most?) of the people posting, have NEVER lost money in real life, due to a scam or false advertisement. And they don't think that that sort of stuff happens in their "real" world.

Just like the Japanese tsunami...oh that never happened....that only happens on movies...right? right?

Yes, people can be ignorant. Yes, people can make mistakes. I'm guessing Best Buy assummed that drivers would be available and decided to start selling the cards. Unless they really do know nothing about what they sell.

Also, if HP or Dell sells it, AMD makes drivers for it. I sincerely doubt anyone at HP or Dell would could their own drivers for their OEM hardware. Bundle in crapware most certainly, but making the hardware work is another thing.

I think that AMD is just covering their hides in this ordeal. Shifting the blame to someone else. If they don't make drivers for it, why on earth would they make the card, sell the chips to XFX who in turn supplies Best Buy with the cards!?

Moral of the story: Don't make assumptions.

We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion. This is a full retail product, not OEM. XFX and AMD have given Best Buy the exclusive to carry this product for the first few weeks after which it will be available at all of the normal retail and etail outlets.

I have pulled a box of both the 6770 and 6750 Best Buy SKU and tested the disc in each of the boxes and was able to successfully install the drivers from the disc and run the graphics card without any issues. We have posted the drivers direct for download and links on our product page for those models since as with most new cards they are not included in the major Catalyst release yet.

Anyone in this community in need of the drivers can get them at http://xfxsupport.info/downloads/8.8...ta_march24.exe for Windows 7 and Vista and http://xfxsupport.info/downloads/8.8...xp_march24.exe for Windows XP.

Does Nvidia cover OEM in their updates? Last time I checked they did....
Phaedrus just return it to the store and claim it will not work. They will try it and they will see that they cannot install the drivers, or they will just give you your money back and you can go on your merry way.

As for the actual problem, just phone XFX and describe to them in detail the mis-advertizement and driver problems with the card. As well as AMD not allowing them to release it for retail.

Glad to see more hardware reps here. Even though you were not at fault (mostly), you made things right.

Phaedrus, are you going to continue your XFX hate?
