I would never buy XFX after the significantly more horror stories I keep hearing about.

Last one I fully read was by Adz after they sent him 3 faulty mobos and claimed he broke or broke in shipment even when it was clear there wasnt any damage on the box lol. After that I stopped reading them.

Sucks hat this happened, hopefully everything straightens out for Phaedrus

Does it seem strange to anyone that the same 2-3 people are always running to the defense of xfx? I can understand being happy with a product you own, but canthese people not fathom the same product not working for another user?

There is certainly a decent amount of XFX bashing but there is also some blind xfx love going on as well....
yes, i think the op should've contacted support first before making a hate thread, which is what this is. typing "screw xfx" really makes it distasteful. you would've had much more punch to let the reader decide what is going on... many players (best buy, amd) are in play here.

ever since nvspec posted that denied rma because of jizz on card everyone has jumped on the bandwagon hate without having no experience with xfx. it's suddenly the "enthusiast thing" to do.

in an industry where lifetime warranties are a dying breed (and yes, evga only offers 2 year warranty on certain models... rip bfg) it would be a shame for xfx to be shunned by the few vocal community haters.

yeah, they had the 4890 fiasco, but from appearances, they are doing what they can to provide fair support, including flying that spec dude to CA (which btw what ever happened to that?) they could've done nothing, but they try to do what's right. and no offense to nvspec, when you rma a card you make it look clean and not make it look like someone jizzed all over it even if it came like that (pun).

Must be nice to be able to drop $200 on a card and not have to worry about how to pay for gas for the next two weeks

Maybe the op was unlucky and didn't get the right disc? It happens with new releases sometimes

for example, my evga gts 450 didnt come with a sticker

yeah, but if it labeled as support for XP/Vista/W7/Linux/FreeBSD, and ATI/XFX 's site doesn't have links to the drivers (until the XFX rep posted XP/Vista/W7 only here), something went wrong along this process...

Actually I didn't do a close look at the CD. Remember, this is my step-dad's computer, and he wanted stuff done quick. Didn't think to explore it manually before he demanded we return it.

Lotta raging going on for someone who didn't check the cd.

The hell, it's working (more or less) when I run it in Athena. I'm going to ask my step-dad what the hell he did.
