Actually I didn't do a close look at the CD. Remember, this is my step-dad's computer, and he wanted stuff done quick. Didn't think to explore it manually before he demanded we return it.

Oh god, I think I know what happened. doh.gif

When we first installed the card I told my step-dad to download drivers from AMD's site, because I wanted him to get into the habit of downloading drivers from AMD periodically, rather than using disk drivers forever. Needless to say, they didn't work.

Then we got into a shouting match and I left the room. He then tried the driver disk.

When running the install disk, it gets to a point where it asks if you want to GET THE LATEST DRIVERS NOW, or use the drivers on the disk. He must have clicked the first one. doh.gif Which leads to an XFX registration page. That's where I walked into the room.

The rest follows from there.

God dammit.

Obviously it's totally XFX's fault.

Phaedrus, you should remove this thread since it's fixed. Your giving XFX a bad name from something that was user error.

I still respect you man smile.gif

He's done much more for this site than you have rolleyes.gif

His mistake, but from where I'm standing, he's not the douche here.

Wow, I bought this card on an impulse buy for £90 on sale (5770 I wanted was £100) and checked everything out, and then I searched reviews and this thread popped right up, I almost cancelled my order until I got to the end. I'm guessing because Phaedrus's problems were a few months ago the OEM problems have been sorted. Does anyone know what kind of performance the card can get? I had to buy a VGA-DVI adaptor and am still waiting for it.

Thread Starter
The HD6770 is completely identical to the HD5770, so any review of the HD5770 should be valid for this card as well.

basically it is more best buy's fault for stocking a card before official release

Do you reckon its a good idea to mention that now it has been officially released there are no problems. Just in case someone searches for reviews (like I did) and comes across this thread, but doesn't read into it very much, I'd like to state categorically, the card is fine now. Can you rename the thread by any chance? I'd hate for people to get the wrong idea.
