Need Help Deciding Motherboard

Thread Starter
I am building a gaming rig, and need help deciding which CPU type to go for, and which memory type. LGA1155 or LGA1366? DDR3 dual channel or DDR3 triple channel?

Would like to keep my budget below $2000 if possible.

Here is what I've got so far..
http://www.overclock.net/intel-gener...ati-build.html

Should I go Crossfire? If I purchased a second HIS HD6950 2GB would bring my total amount up to $1697.20 after tax, shipping and MIR's. Also, that motherboard doesn't support triple channel memory...

Get rid of that memory, go with the Ripjaws with the 1600Mhz @ 7-8-7-24 timings.

Stick with dual channel, if you're going to be going with xfire then you might want to consider a new PSU. The 650 should do the job but you never know, how old is it?

The Antec TruePower New 650W is brand new and in the mail right now

Is this the memory you're talking about?

Just curious, but what is the advantage of CL7-8-7-24 over CL9-9-9-24?

cl7 memories have lesser timings than cl9 memory, the lesser will be the timings the better & faster will be the ram.

I suggest u to go with sandy bridge build over x58 build,
get this:
cpu- i5 2500k
mobo- asus p8p67 ws revolution/asus p8p67 deluxe/asus p67 sabertooth/asus p8p67 evo.
For the ram go with:
2x4gb corsair vengeance, these rams work best with sandy bridge,
Hope this helps & u like my suggestion.
Note: dont forget to rep+ to those who helped u

I've been doing my research to purchase a Sandy Bridge upgrade as well.

At first I was looking at the MSI P67 motherboards too, but heard that the Asus P67 boards are a lot better. Don't get me wrong though, I like MSI for GPUs so it isn't that I just don't like MSI all together. I've just heard a lot of people tell me to get an Asus instead of an MSI.

I think I've decided to get an Asus P8P67 Deluxe. You might want to check out that one and the other Asus P67 motherboards. They are supposedly very good boards.

G.Skill ECO series is better than the Ripjaws. They're all 1.35v, with low timings and the same speeds.

And yes, NCIX is Canadian. In fact, I find it one of the best Canadian Online vendors. They price match + have better shipping than the others.
