Ram Bottle neck?

Thread Starter
Not a fan of benchmarks... (at least for comparing my rig to other peoples..)

but, ran the benchmark with a few other programs open and not thinking and got this..

closed out FF and a few other programs and got this.

Then having used AMD fusion in the past I managed this

I am wondering if more ram could potentially yeild higher FPS.

I mean if I open Chrome or FF even just on google.com with a blank page.. I will suffer some fps loss.. so I am wondering if given more ram I could get higher FPS and if it would be worth it to just go ahead and get another 4 gigs of ddr3 ramm (Same ram I got before would only be 50$)

I'm willing to bet anything that you had a Flash applet (such as YouTube, etc.) open in your browser window. Flash is hardware accelerated, and it takes up a LOT of GPU cycles. Turn off hardware acceleration in Flash (right click a video in YouTube, Settings, uncheck "Enable Hardware Acceleration", and the Heaven Bench should be loads better.

EDIT: Which version of Firefox are you using? Firefox 4.0 itself is hardware accelerated as well, that'll eat up GPU cycles.

Many modern browsers are also GPU accelerated in everything else i.e. Firefox 4, IE9, development builds of Chrome
