Sleep and Charge USB

Thread Starter
Hey guys,
First of all, I'm sorry if this isn't in the right section but I couldn't find any other place to post this because I know it has something to do with windows..
Anyways, my new netbook that I recently purchased didn't come with sleep and charge USB's however my friend told me that it was possible to change some power managment options in windows to allow me to charge for example, my blackberry while the computer is hibrinated or sleeping.

If this is possible, can someone please tell me how do I go about doing this?

depends on your mobo and PSU, actually. Windows has little to do with it.
I know most recent Gigabyte and ASUS boards in the 100usd+ range have this functionality.

Hmm... I don't know if this is a related setting, but do this:
  1. Open the Start menu
  2. Type edit power plan (you may only need to type "edit po")
  3. Press Enter
  4. In the Window that appears, press Enter (don't click anything because the thing we want is already selected)
  5. Expand "USB settings"
  6. Expand "USB selective suspend setting"
  7. Choose "Disabled"
  8. Click "Apply" (this is a required step for this particular control panel)

Here's the goal:

I just did what you said and when I put my netbook into hibrenate, my blackberry says that there isn't enough power to charge it through usb.

Is there any way around this?

If this netbook allows access to the BIOS, then maybe. However, I wouldn't be able to provide support for that because I've never looked at a netbook's BIOS (I've never even seen a netbook in person, nor do I know if any netbooks allow access).

(by the way, it's actually Hibernate instead of Hibrenate)
