Server Build Question

Thread Starter
So guys I have been throwing up the idea of maybe building my own gaming server. Something I can host Black Ops or Battlefield Bad Company 2 on something like that.

I'm not sure on the specifications or how easy/difficult this will be.

My main concern is the difficulty and what type of internet service I will need (currently have AT&T not sure on speeds) if any of you can offer some support or types that would be great.

Also not sure if this is the right place to post this or not but if not mods please re direct me thank you.

eww dont throw up over ideas

speeds is most definetly the main issue with honsting a server, then hardware capabilities. Also, some isp's do not let you or frown upon hosting anything.

i do not recall at&t having any plans worth while. Speedtest.net will show you your current speeds. Just remember, their is a difference between mb and Mb.

as for system requirements, and how tos, google.com

Getting a static IP from AT&T is the first step. Do you know if you DSL or uverse?

Other than that its really like building any other computer and you don't need anything powerful at all. I used to use a old P4 and 1GB of ram with no issues hosting a CS:S server but have moved up since then.
