Need suggestions (case, cooling...or...maybe just build a new one?)

Hey all,

Brief version: I need a quiet and cool case/heatsink combo for my folding rig.

Long version: I've recently started folding. After a quick foray, I quickly got hooked.

So, I decided to dedicate my Q6700/GTX275 to 24/7 folding. I also used the re-dedication of the Q6700 as an excuse to set up a dedicated linux file server. It's doing great. No spectacular PPD like some of your rigs, but its pretty decent.

BUT! The problem is, the thing runs hot (~60C@stock/load), and it's a bit noisy and has too large of a footprint.

So -- my goals:
I want to set this thing up to
1.) Be cooler = be OC'able = more efficient
2.) Be quieter
3.) Take up less space

My current Q6700 is housed in a horrible case (the case is truly a monstrosity,) and has a low-mid quality aftermarket heatsink (forgive me for not recalling the brand...it's not that great, though.)

I'm thinking of getting a new heatsink/cooler/case combo, and I'd like your suggestions based on my goals.

The problem is, I start running into the "well, I should just set up a new system at that price" conundrum.

So -- does anyone have any ideas? Basically, I'd like to have my folding system possess decent cooling and be somewhat unnoticeable (i.e., sound/space.)

All suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks much,
Lazu

EDIT TO ADD: I would also consider a new PSU if anyone thought one of the lower power varieties might help me achieve my goals. I'm currently using an OCZ modular 600W PSU (forget the model, I'm at my fiancee's place tonight lol.)

The most compact and efficient cooler that I can think of would be the Corsair H50, but I would recommend going with the H60 over that since it has much better performance. Either replace the fans or keep them set to low/medium settings and you should be good.

Oh wow.

I think you just gave me the excuse I was looking for.

I've got an H70 on my sig rig. I've wanted to upgrade to a full on WC system for awhile now. I could swap my H70 to the Q6700 folder.

Any ideas about a case though? I'm looking for something small, quiet, and with decent airflow.

Thanks.

(Edit: the ideal case would be something that's cool, can hold a few HDD's for the file server part, and take up as little space as possible.)
