Should I?

Thread Starter
I just reapplied thermal paste to my 6970 2GB card and dropped the temps significantly. I now peak at stress 68 celcius using furmark at 930MHz core clock using reference cooling (with fan settings appropriately set up, 20% up to 35 degrees, 25% at 40 degrees, 30% at 50 degrees, 40% at 60 degrees, 55% at 80 degrees, 65% at 100 degrees... anything inbetween those settings is on a linear curve).

Anyways, I simply am not using my 6970 now. I just play SC2 and Crysis 2 imo was a flop (I played it through and don't like the multiplayer at all). Other than that I play Warcraft III and that's about it >_<; I'm really looking forward to Battlefield 3 and Diablo 3, and other than that there seems to be little else I'm looking forward to.

So, should I keep my 6970 and double it up later? Or should I sell it? I've been posting it up on craigslist for a while now at $300 but no bites at all. Not sure if I should lower the price, or keep it?

For someone with my needs, what would be the best option? I really want to have a reason to use it (it's why I bought it). Just not sure what I should do given there's not too many games coming out (by the time they are out, there'll be new gen graphics).

im personally not a fan of dual graphics at all. some games do not sli/crossfire therfore its not worth it to me to ever consider that route. IF you plan on wanting mor ein the future, you might just need to bite the bullet and sell your sthen, or sell now and use say a cheaper 4/5k series card in the meantime. When next series is released, the previous series all take price drops.

Someone offered me $285. Should I go for it? Or should I try to sit firm at $300 as an asking price? :S

(I never sell online except in my local craigslist so this isn't like some kind of under-rep sale thread. Just checking advice.)

If you don't have to buy another card, than sell it. If you have to buy another card, just keep yours and n-joy it as much as you can.

Personally I am against sli or crossfire because I don't see any need of this. It made sence to do so before, when cards were slow, but right now pretty any new card can run games pretty decent...

Be careful dealing online there is a lot fraud, before shipping anything out, make sure that your account has money on it and not just email stating that you will receive money after shipping the item..

If you will be selling it on eBay consider eBay fees and shipping cost... eBay go nuts with fees and by the time you count your profits, I would rather keep it.

The only reason I sell on craigslist is because it's local. I do it all in person. The difficulty with selling computer parts is people tend to want to test them, so I have to welcome someone into my house (or I have to go into theirs), and that's where things can get troublesome if someone wants to hurt me and take my stuff.

I have a 5770 I could use. I'm just not sure if a used 6970 is worth $285, or if I'm underselling. I think I'll stick with $300 and wait for a buyer, though I'm not sure if that's the best of ideas.

$15 is not a big deal... I'd go with that offer. Take your big friend on the deal
