Upgrade Advice?

Hi guys, Its been a while since ive been around, and im looking for some pretty general advice.....

Anyways, ill start with a quick run down of my current system specs, Im running a q6600 on an Asus P5Q Turbo, with 4 gigs of OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 Ram, in Dual Channel, My video card is a GeForce GTX 295, PSU is a Corsair 700Watt. For DVD drives i have an LG GDR8162B DVD ROM (for reading Wii Disks), and an LG Blu Ray Burner, My hard disks are all Western Digital 7200 RPM drives. Its all housed in a HAF 932, and the CPU/MB is watercooled with Heatkiller 3.0 on the CPU, and DanGerden block on the MB.All 1/2 tubing, Im running the q6600 at 4.0 GHZ and its all stable.....

Im looking to do an upgrade, and as im not a gamer anymore (too busy, work, ect)...., im thinking i want to do something with my Hard drives..... I want more speed in this dept. I used to run two 500 GB drives in RAID0, then one drive went, and i ended up just running one 500 GB for the OS, and i have three 1TB drives for storage.....

Now, Im thinking of getting an SSD drive for the OS, and some apps, and one 300 GB WD SATA III Velociraptor for most used programs (alot of DVD Re-Encoding stuff/Photoshop). And keeping the 1TB drives for general storage of movies, ect....

So what do you guys suggest/think of my idea using a SSD drive for the OS (Win 7) and the 300 GB Velociraptor for programs? I know ill see a good gain for the OS/SSD, but does it pay to run the Velociraptor along with it for frequently used programs? And as far as an SSD drive goes, what is a good choice? Im thinking of a 120 GB OCZ Vertex 3 SF 2281, or the 120 GB RevoDrive (PCIE Card)? the Revo Drive Card boasts 540/480 Read/Write speeds for 309.99, and the Vertex 3 550/500 speeds for 299.99..... I usually try to do an upgrade of sorts a couple times a year, and the Hardrives are due now. The rest of the system suits me fine for what i do now, and for a while!

So what do you guys think of my idea's, and what do you all suggest?

Thanks for any help in this, I appreciate it!

Ginnz.

I would say instead of buying the 300GB Velociraptor and the SSD just get a slightly bigger SSD but if you really need the extra space get the Velociraptor also i think you should go with the Vertex 3

thanks.... so i think im right on track. Ill get the Vertex 3, 120 GB version, and a 300 gb 10K HD. I think these two upgrades will be just what im looking for..... and seeing's how i built my son a PC a month ago, i may just give him one of my 1TB drives, as he has one 500 GB drive, and i'll pick up a couple of 2 TB drives to replace it..... The slower 7200 RPM "Green" drives are good enough for storing video/movies!
