You said you wanted a wide sound stage, not too bass heavy phones. Try the AD700's, they are pretty much the undisputed favorite, I have them as well and I can vouch.
Grab a desktop standing mic, or a clip on zalman, and you are g2g.
Here read this for some lols, and why we are so anti-headset:

HORRIBLE
GAMING
HEADSETS

Hey, it seems you have started a thread asking for help buying headsets so you can talk to your guild while you play WoW. This is a helpful guide to bluntly state some of the finer points.

Let me get this out of the way quickly, straight up NEVER BUY A HEADSET. You may be asking, "Why?!" since virtually every uneducated fool has one. Well good thing I'm here, so I can teach you up.

Headsets are inherently a horrible idea because they combine piss poor headphones with a piss poor microphone and cost significantly more then they would cost separately, and I stress the significant part, its a joke. Not only do you get worse quality for the price, but because you are combining garbage parts with cheap wiring they are much more likely to break, and when they do, are harder to fix.

What you do want: A set of good headphones (depends on your budget), and a cheap desk mic. Personally, and many others on this forum will support this, I have the ATH AD700's. Great set of all around phones, perfect for listening to music and playing video games. They got decent bump, nothing that will blow you away, but their sound stage is incredible. They are open air though, so they do have some leakage.

Surround Sound... Since you have asked for headset help, it is also very likely that one of your criteria is that the headset you get recommended be Surround Sound because you think that will improve your piss poor kdr. First things first, you suck, accept that you are terrible at FPS games and move on. nothing will help that, no matter how much money you through at it, I will always whoop that ass. But secondly, while the fact that it won't make you better is irrelevant, what is relevant is that fact that actual surround sound in headphones (putting multiple poor speakers, all less then a half an inch from your ear) is only a gimmick, and a poor one at that. Not just a "oh it costs a lost and isn't that good" kind of gimmick. It actually adds NOTHING to your experience, gives you surrond sound that can be less accurate then virtual surround sound with 2.0 headphones, and gives you significantly worse sound quality for the price, since you have very cheap drivers (there are 7 of them), and a cheap brand

If you still aren't convinced...lol go buy a razer or fatality or something, and everytime you pick up those pieces of garbage I hope you are reminded of my post and your asinine decision.

Ok, there's one thing that needs to be laid out for you before you make a purchase. The Sennheiser PC360's (and other headsets meant for PC gaming) WILL NOT WORK DIRECTLY WITH YOUR XBOX 360. The Xbox 360 utilizes the 2.5mm jack on your controller for voice input, so you need something to plug into there in order to communicate with others over Xbox Live. In order to use the PC360's with your Xbox 360, you will need either the Astro MixAmp, Turtle Beach DSS, or SteelSeries Spectrum Audio Mixer. Needless to say, these will all take a huge chunk out of your budget, so you need to keep this in mind.

The Astro A40's come with the MixAmp (make sure you don't buy it by itself), but the entire package comes out to $250, which is pretty steep. You might do well to shop around for cheaper alternatives.

Grief is full of it.
I have listened to my brother's Grado Ps1000's trough a Little Country III, and they were NOT better than my Carcharias on my Hd...subjective obviously, but you need to listen to what YOU like and YOUR needs, not just what somebody tells you about low level phile gear.

preferring how it sounds does not mean the sound quality is better.

Grados are known to be love it or hate it. Serious headphones are always better quality than gaming headsets. And no, it's not because we're "full of it".

Actually, due to the subjectivity, it DOES.
I don't quite understand how you get the idea that you can call me wrong, when the entire subject is subjective.

It doesn't. There is a difference but people often confuse it for sound fidelity. You can have a bass heavy headphone like a Skullcandy and a bass light one like AD700...which one do you think sounds better? Which one has more clarity? With one has less distortion?

Also, sound is full of science. All subjective stuff can be explained via science.

You obvious like a bass emphasised sound signature, but it doesn't mean that the sound fidelity is better.

What didn't you like? The clearer mids? The more accurate bass? The much wider soundstage? I'm genuinely curious.
