Camera for Camp!

Thread Starter
I'm going to be a counselor at a camp this year, and I'd like to bring a camera!

I want something that's small enough to carry around, quick enough to turn on fast, easy enough to take basic fast shots (I don't need to spend 15seconds trying to focus!), and decent quality.

My budget is around $100. Suggestions?

I have a Nikon Coolpix, it's great!

Most of the cameras that are that cheap aren't anything to write home about. They should all start fast--this isn't 2002 anymore when slow cameras were the norm. Personally, I'd go for a Canon, and if possible, I'd stretch your budget a little tiny bit.

For $135, you can get the Canon PowerShot SD980 refurbished.

As far as compacts go, it is an excellent camera.

The Nikon camera looks pretty good, at $40 less. What does that Canon have that the Nikon doesn't?

Well, Canon's point-and-shoots are generally better performers than Nikon's. Also, that Canon is a great deal, as it's a higher class of point-and-shoot. Normally it costs around $200 or so.
