Slow FPS in WoW - Page 2

It's been a while since I've played but are you running WoW on DX9 or 11?

Also any driver changes?

toggle your forced graphics options. also, try lowering shaders a notch... blizzard games have issues with thier shaders and the image difference is negligable.

Very weird, with my sig rig I get about +100 fps in most areas, +150 in arena.
In raids and major citys obviously less but still mostly +30/40 fps.

And my sig rig is way worse than your rig .

edit: I play on ultra, mostly with shadows maxed, 1680*1050 mostly in windowed mode.

are you using any mods? i remember having a similar problem and it turned out that a mod was messing with things.

Is your card downclocking at all? Do you play in windowed mode? Keep an afterburner window open and make sure that your core speed doesnt drop. If it does go into the Nvidia control panel and for the wow profile go into the power managment and set it to high performance mode.

Ok, think I figured it out. Reinstalled video drivers (again!), and booted up WoW and set everything on low. Ran smooth. Then went down the list increasing everything. Apparently it will now run smooth as long as the view distance is set to low...still pretty lame. Has anyone else had this issue before? Would figure my sigrig would be able to handle a game like WoW on full blast in everything.

Sounds like a virus. There are numerous viruses that love to hog CPU/RAM. Run a scan, if you come up with something, then let your AV fix it then do a hard reboot. Should solve . I was having the same issue a while back.

To be sure, open up your task manager and see what your CPU usage is without WoW running.

Computer like your should be able to run on max settings without a hitch.

There is still something wrong. I could play on extreme with my sli 460s and I can still play with everything maxed with my 580.

Are you sure you are not downclocking?

Honestly doubt its a virus, I'm very paranoid about what I do with this computer. But thank you for the idea. Running a full scan as I'm typing this. Had a full ran a couple days ago and a quick one last night (using Norton), doubtful anything will turn up.

Sigrig is solely used for gaming and schoolwork + light surfing. I use my mediapc for any pirating/divx/funky downloads, etc lol.

I'd say try the DX11 fix. I was getting low fps on my sig rig before I used it.
Not as low as what you are talking about though.
Odd that WoW is forcing low settings...maybe there is some discrepancy between the game and your vid card as it's fairly new? All I can think of is that WoW is assuming you have an older/unidentifiable GPU and is locking the settings based on that.
