[EG DFB] The Making of Crysis 2 - Page 15

8gb should be the mininum. Remember, back in 2005 when 360 was being designed, most PCs only had 512mb of ram. I'd expect AT LEAST 8gb if they were designing it now. 2GB VRAM too.
Yeah, watch them use 8GB of RAM, and a weak ass gpu.

How about 4GB, since 8GB is pointless, and use the equivalent of a GTX 570 / HD 6970 in it.

And have it cost $600+? I made that mistake at PS3 launch, could made a decent PC upgrade 6 years ago. Rather have it still with 5000/400 or even a 4000/200 ATI/NVidia to keep cost down. 8GB seems redundant. 2 for VRAM enough for true 1080p and rest can be utilized by system to help stream data from DVD/-ray and storage.

Yo, crytek, pc has 8GB of ram. Why didn't you use it?

As far as GPU goes I reckon something like (x)770 would be very nice.

E.g like ati 5770. Was a nice balance between price/performance/heat/power etc

So the equivalent of 5770 in 2014

But seriously, current consoles need to die already. 2014 is too far away
post #146 of 168
in 2-3 years things will be totally different, if the expected life cycle for a console is greater than 2 years then it really needs to pack in some redundancy.

This is why no one cares about the PC anymore. If it's not the dedicated servers it's the graphical options. If it's not the graphical options it's that the game says press start when you play it. If it's not the press start it's the smaller level size. If it's not smaller level size it's the smaller multiplayer player count. If it's not the multiplayer play count it's that the game isn't directx 11. If it's not the directx 11 it's the lack of mod support. If it's not the lack of mod support it is the gameplay...

We as a community of PC gamers have shown that we will never be satisfied. Developers can talk about 100 things they plan to do special for the PC, but miss one single thing and the game is not worthy of purchase. I'm really not sure why anyone would even bother putting their game on PC anymore.

sure it would help, will it happen? i dont think so, with the amount of stuff they have to upgrade its going to make the new consoles more and more expensive so i think we will see 2-4gb maybe 6gb at a push but wont be seeing 8gb i think
