argh, man...

you people claiming Crysis 2 is like COD and a generic shooter need a hard smack in the head, seriously. and im egging to deliver it too. you guys actually played the game or you just pretending to hate it coz it seems like the cool thing to do. i seriously doubt you've played it. if you have it was for like 2 minutes and you sucked at it, probably suck at FPS games in general hence the hate on them and constant reference to COD, one of the easiest to play. anything more than a couple of button presses and it sucks ay? *tissue*

or have you even played COD? everyones played COD, of course. but have they? doesnt sound like it. the only relation this game has to COD is the bloody point of view. i think its safe to assume when people say "COD" they mean either Modern Warfare or one of its successors. coz if you're comparing it to the whole COD franchise...well im guessing you still look forward to getting lolli pops from the doctor coz you're their "special little guy/girl".

what, the story is linear so its COD? the maps are urban based and closed in, so its COD? since when did COD deserve to be considered the benchmark for all FPS titles? im sorry, i didnt realise that FPS titles began in 2007 and havnt evolved from then. why doesnt anyone say "well call of duty is just medal of honor" ... coz it isnt right? following your mentality, every FPS game since 1994 is just like Doom. which is just like Wolfenstein...

what, the multiplayer has ranks, unlocks and a sort of perk system. wow did COD invent that? coz im pretty sure BF2 did it too, that game came out 2 years before COD4... so Crysis 2 is just like BF2 right? oh wait...

you see how stupid you look?

Crysis 2 is an awesome shooter, oh no it wasnt like Crysis 1 boo hoo my little PC butt hurts, grow up. you call yourselves gamers, pfff. you're far from it with some of the crap some of you are spilling, its disgusting. so it isnt a pixel for pixel sequel, they took a different approach. so what. the story still follows on, thats what lies at the core of games today isnt it, the story. thats why games are made in the first place, to entertain and tell a story. if you dont see it for that you're not a gamer, you're just someone that "has a go" at games coz of all the pretty colours and sounds. or you have A.D.D or something...then fair enough.

but wait, they "dumbed" down the game to make it multi-platform, taking it away from the essence of Crysis completely? hmm lets have a think about this, ill use the seeimingly famous Call of Duty. im sure im not the only one who thinks COD died after COD2 in terms of its gameplay essence and story...when COD came out in 2003 it blew gamers away, it was huge and fast and had a great story. so did its expansion and sequel. but then they saw how well it was doing, and we started getting console variants. changed, mutated, hated. and they havnt stopped coming yet. what has COD done to revolutionise the FPS genre? seriously? and what makes COD soooo different from any other FPS title before it? you guys played Call of Duty 2 lately? imo still looks better than all current COD titles. it wasnt on console though was it, no instead some of the devs branched off, made their own company and now we get 2 COD titles a season almost. lets not even get started on how re-hashed COD is. so COD was "dumbed down" for consoles too...oh no not your little COD, nooo.

i actually cant stand all this COD referencing, but i gotta use it to put the little COD fans in their place and open their eyes.

im not gonna start the age old argument of "well i've been playing shooters since (insert date, enter game title)" but i've played a LOT of shooters, old and new, and theres classics and flops. Crysis 2 was far from a flop, its an excellent game. compared to most FPS games out now. you ignorants just for some stupid, stupid reason cant accept it for what it is. you all wanted this uber crazy title to come out, oozing high tech and the latest bits and bobs, so you could cry about how you cant run it or it isnt optimised or whatever coz lets face it, everyone needs to whinge about something right (bit hypocritical of me but im whinging about the whingers) and then we got Crysis 2, something every gamer can enjoy, not just the world dominating PC gamer market *cough* bs *cough* ... it runs fine on all systems, i play it on PC and PS3 and while you'd be a retard with a disability to compare the two platforms, it works on both fine.

Crytek opened the door to the Crysis universe for everyone and you know who's complaining, the PC market. the biggest bunch of girls in the gaming industry belong to the PC gaming community, thats a fact. i for the life of me cannot understand why people hate multi platform titles so much? what makes you think you are the only one to deserve someones work? a piece of art?

serously, i want someone to list the reasons why Crysis 2 is exactly like COD, the game everyone is so keen to compare it to for whatever stupid bloody reason.

come on keyboard heroes, get typing, lets see what you got, what do YOU know about FPS games? dont gimme that "oh but its not DX11" crap who cares, Crysis 2, maxed out, rivals most current games, let alone nearly every DX9 title to date, almost every DX10 title and well we really dont have any DX11 titles yet bar a couple.

the complaints about the online problems are valid however, take a look at the most common. the hackers, no vote kick etc... notice how most of the online issues are related to the behaviour of players and the online community members, and nothing to do with the actual game itself?

if you're gonna compare Crysis 2 to call of duty, think before you speak, seriously.

and then theres the crowd who actually cancelled their orders or refuse to buy the game coz it didnt have DX11? are you for real? definitely not gamers, just people that "have a go". fair enough but man you are missing out.

i love how people say things like " oh well im not buying Crysis 2 coz i didnt buy my 5870 for nothing" ... seriously. Crysis 2 runs on most mid and some low end GPUs, its only gonna run amazing on your 5870 or whatever high end card. thats bad now? if Crysis 2 came out and was what all the PC hardware elitists were wanting, it wouldnt run, it would be Crysis 1 all over again and its funny how everyone seems to have forgotten how hated Crysis 1 was when it came out. you all HATED it. people like me got shunned for backing it from day 1 and still loving it today. oh its too demanding, oh my 8800 Ultra cant run it i paid $600 for this card Crysis 1 is fail, oh its not optimised bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla. rinse repeat, rinse repeat.

fact is Crytek went multi-platform to make more money and bring their baby to a bigger world, good on them. thats what they are there for, they are a business. you know what all this complaining and demanding a crying from the PC commnunity is gonna eventuate into? no more PC exclusive titles. everyone wants a game they cant have. its the age old sin of man, to want what we cant have. to want a game we essentially cant run. and all devs are gonna end up goin "well we arnt gonna make much money selling a game that only a select few can play, so lets tone it down and release it to millions instead, for millions in return. sound good, sold". i dont blame them. we still got a good game, so it wasnt the game some of us wanted. what are we 5 years old on Christmas?

I'm sure that could have been expressed in half the words used.

It's a game so realism is absent to a degree. They could kept the original suit abilities the same and made switching abilities easier, but I think making the suit easy to use as a whole was the main focus this time around. Nanosuit 1 would have ran the 100m a lot faster then 9.58sec, it had a second gear while NS2 is stick in first gear. I used to watch players blaze across maps in Crysis Wars.

Larger, more open maps needs more speed.
Smaller more linear maps needs slower speed.

It has to do with the pace of the game and probably would have broken the gameplay if Nanosuit 2 was as quick.

The business model of the PC is different from the consoles.

PC games are expected to be supported for a long time after release and to run in many different hardware setups. When devs port a game, what they release is a game that was a designed for a different audience, environment and play style, which ends up in games not being optimized, old graphics, bad huds, press a to jump, movie-like games, etc.

PC games sell for years, and that's something the big companies have not grasped, not on a 1st day-hype basis.

2 Different platforms, 2 different audiences, 2 light years of hardware capability difference.

That said, the latest installment of Crysis is a step backwards from the original from the perspective of a PC gamer. There is no map editor, while the original had a very robust one. There are no advanced config options, an important staple for any PC release due to the varying hardware configurations.

The graphics are on the same level as Crysis 1 (I think they look worse than warhead maxed out), despite a period of time between the releases equivalent to Far Cry to Crysis 1. Textures are worse, DX support went backwards even though a new DX API was released. Tactical leaning was taken out due to console controllers and AI is lacking, environment destruction is degraded due to weak console CPUs, maps are smaller due to consoles having 512 RAM total (including GPU+system).

It's a solid AAA, although uninspired game, but as a sequel to Far Cry and Crysis, it's a big disappointment, even a step backwards.

-Where is delta squad is my question as well.
-How Prophet got Nanosuit 2? Because he came back to Hargreave at the end of C1 and got the N2. Then disappeared.
-Prophet wasn't "infected". He became so dependant on the suit that the suit killed him. He wore the N2 for several years and NEVER took it off. It formed a "symbiosis" as he called it. Infact, Prophet was so dependant on the suit that he couldn't speak anymore. The voice you hear in the game is the suit itself.
-Read the above.
-What kind of question is how did he get to NY?
-The bathroom? lol Simple, there is a giant rubber thing shoved up the user's behind.

Alot of the plot is in detail in the official book. Ironically, so is the question about the bathroom as well. Alcatraz talks about it as he's being interrogated.

  2. Prophet was the old guy's spy originally in Crysis 1. I'd imagine that after he came back off the island, he went straight to the guy and got upgraded.
  3. This *might* be a plothole, if the story in Crysis says something about the suit not being able to be removed without one of those chairs but otherwise I don't see why Prophet couldn't do it over a 12 hr period
  4. Alcatraz DID get infected when he fell out of the helicopter. The infection was localized and b/c of the collection of Alien DNA, the infection was neutralized
  5. Just because they don't explain all of the events between Crysis 1 and Crysis 2 doesn't make it a plothole
  6. The nanosuit has bathroom facilities, which it purifies and re-distributes as refreshing H20. LoL
Not all of that is correct:

Alcatraz isn't infected. There was no "infection" that killed Prophet. It was the suit again. Though, Alcatraz will end up like Prophet eventually because unlike Prophet - he CANT take off the suit. If he does, he dies. If he wears the suit, he dies. It's a loose loose for Alcatraz no matter what happens. Just wearing the suit will take several years.

The alien stuff doesn't infect the user. The suit absorbs it. Hargreave designed the suit to specifically do this, and the events of the first Crysis was to see what would happen to the suit and its users. Turns out the suit was just as effective as he predicted.
