560 for 570? What is right for me? - Page 5

Well between the 560 and 570 I would reccomend the 560 for your needs and current rig. I have the exact same PSU as you and a stock CPU that uses less power than your overclocked one and when I was asking people in the PSU forum the same question as you the said I should be able to just barely get the 570 if I don't OC either my CPU or GPU. I was looking for it to be folding stable, but either way I wouldn't trust a OC'd CPU that uses more power than mine and a 570 on our PSU. The 560 should also be a better match for your current resolution seeing as you don't plan on upgrading it anytime soon.

Yep, the DCII 570 is the same MSRP as reference, still about $20-$30 more at etailers but still a good deal, like I said though I wouldn't recommend a 560 with the OP's current PSU and resolution, just not a need for it IMO.

I don't know about 3D but for 1080P a 570 can max or nearly max at game, even the demanding ones at this resolution. Not a 560.

I understand people are defensive over the card, and that's fine. If you have it and it works then good for you, but there's no reason for people who have not spent their money yet to take a gamble on a card when there are rock solid bets out there at the same price point.
Yeah its just overplayed.
The new power phase ones will be extremely popular as 570's hit a 3DMark11P of 6000 or more with basic CPU power... people will be pushing them at 4.5Ghz + and with core of 1000 or so on the 570, and whatever on the 580, watch out! lol.
I can see these MSi GPU's becoming quite popular.

Umm, my 460 at 1GHz maxes everything and gets above 30FPS even in crysis 1. Most games get 60FPS+

Like i previously stated there is no proof that these people actually own the card,im sure some are having the issue with vrm's but most are probably trolls trying to bash a video card they dont even have!
And if u read closely 99% of the people that blew up there card unlocked the voltage protection,so what do u think will happen.
And i would like to see your diploma for electrical engineering being u state that the power phases are not right. If nvidia or some other reputible company admits this then i will agree, until then its just more hate spreading rumors.

Actually the 560 can handle most titles at 1080p quite well. 3D however, essentially halves your FPS. So neither card will really run 3D well on its own.

They had to neuter the 590 via drivers (essentially a public admission) because they also failed with their power phases there..the only reason they haven't had to take public humiliation on the 570 is because they didn't blow up during reviews, just on poor consumers.

Honestly though, 99% of people unlocked the OCP and volts? Did you read the thread? The list is right there in the OP of that thread. I understand that you are desperate to make your point but there is no need for hyperboles or outright lies..

We're here to help the OP, not to debate each other, so this will be my last post here.

@OP
Like myself and others have said, the 560 will blow your current resolution out of the water, even a 460 would. Anything more than that would be a complete waste until you get a 3D monitor, and by the time that rolls around there will be better GPUs available at the same price point.

Not desperate just want proof, not someone saying i just blew up mt 570 all at stock setting. Lots of B.S in this forum as of late.

I should be able to solve this little debate atleast in terms of it's relevance to the OP very easily, his PSU can not handle a 570 with his current rig (surprised no one mentioned this before me) and his resolution does not require a 570. Out of the options he listed the 560 is the only one worth recommending in good conscious.

1- GTX 570 is a good card. However, if you go reference, you can have OC issues.
2- GTX 560 is a great card for 100 less. In alot of benches, the card sits just a couple frames behind the 570. I am actually exchanging my 570 for a GTX 560. And if i need something more in the next year or so, I can just SLI or upgrade when the new cards come out.

3- the HD 6950 is a very decent card when it comes to price/performance. If you unlock it, it is even a bit better.

The VRM issue is blown out of proportion yes, but is it something so little you could brush it aside? No. And thats serious enough to warrant a warning to prospective buyers.

But getting back to the real Topic. If you want the nVidia features like PhysX the 560 is the best card in that price range. If you don't want/need the nvidia only features then the 6950 2GB Ref wins in this price segment hands down.

Those are your best 2 choices IMO.
