Inform me on brand quality?

Thread Starter
I am trying to help my sister pick out a laptop but I am not that well versed in laptop brands. So could I get some pointers on what brands are good and what brands to stay away from?

Any brand information welcome, but I am specifically looking for info on Dell notebooks (I know their desktops suck, no clue about laptops), Acer, Samsung, and Sony.

This laptop will be used mostly for media, web browsing, and light gaming (sim city and the sims mostly). She also wants the laptop to be pink so if anyone knows a good pink laptop.

Thanks!

I've had 1 acer laptop and my friend's had 1, both were absolutely abominable. Screen hinge snapped, overheating and and creaky plastic.

Maybe they were 'isolated incidents'.

Dell are ok, but lenovo have the highest quality laptops of any I've personally seen.

I know plenty of people and also have personal experience with their laptops, I've never had issues. But, some people get unlucky.

Her husband hates acer, due to his old acer breaking. Partially due to him kicking it down a set of stairs by accident (it was broken before then though, it just was the final nail in the coffin). For some reason EVERY computer he owns breaks. I have had to fix there desktop god knows how many times lately. Hell, I just replaced the mobo and reformatted it last fall and it already needs to be fixed again.

Well one thing she really wants is for it to be pink (typical girl), and the only pink laptops I can find locally are Sony, Dell, and Toshiba. Any of those 3 any good?

I prefer Dell and HP. Dell mostly for home and such. HP mostly for school. Just my 2 cents

Toshibas are decent.. I have had my acer for 4 years, it still works but with everything on low or else itll overheat when i game (probably the thermal paste). I would also stay away from HPs
