Crysis 2 plot and background theories from a veteran

I am a veteran of every crysis game that crytek has put out, so I am something of a crysis 'lifer' I suppose. There are a lot of theories being tossed around as to crysis 2 and the puzzle of a story that bears striking resemblance to that of portal (I say that because I played portal for the first time literally a few days before crysis 2 came out). You aren't just spoon fed all of the facts like any other shooter. In call of duty 4 (last one I ever bought), it didn't even bother to hide the story, it spelled it out for you as the level was actually loading as though activision wanted to get all the plot-junk away so they could wow you with all the shooting (which was pretty darn fun if I say so myself). Seriously, terrorists with a nuke? You literally cannot through a rock through the window of a block buster without hitting a movie with that as the main plot. The only difference is they actually set it off.

All these theories that are out right now are all exciting. Yet the vast majority of them come from people whom at best only know about the original crysis plot line out of a Wikipedia article they read. Fairly few of them come from people that have played every single game.

SPOILER ALERT

So here are my theories regarding the game:

1. The ceph are extraterrestrial. Given that in the first game that the ceph were operating from a space ship literally hidden away in a mountain this seems painfully obvious. I believe that the ceph arrived at earth some time during an ice age. That would explain their obvious preference to colder climates, it also explains why they were asleep. They were simply waiting for the next one to come.

2. The ceph are not unified as one. I say this because of several crucial differences. In crysis 1 the alien base was literally a mountain, in crysis 2 it was literally a park. While the crysis 2 ceph obviously didn't pick the spot because they figured there would be a park there someday. They obviously did not create a base that resembled a mountain nor space craft.

3. Elaborating on number 2 is another piece of evidence. The ceph in crysis 2 are almost entirely different from crysis 1. I find it hard to believe that the entire alien race completely reinvented it's technology including it's strategy just for the heck of it. If Hargreave was right and the aliens are simply clearing out NY to recreate their home again why don't they do what the Lingshan ceph did and freeze the whole island? It would have been a lot quicker and a much smaller pain in the ass and if they had done that they probably would have won long before Alcatraz even boarded the submarine at the beginning. I think it's because the technology to do that is something that the Lingshan ceph have actually specialized in. This is in contrast to the specialization of the NY ceph in biological warfare.

4. The actual weapons of war are drastically different. Rather then flying squid like machines and the smaller robotic soldiers they have bipedal soldiers and helicopter-esque attack craft. What's more, their colors are completely different, preferring a sort of limestone-marble texture for the metal with a red fleshy body. Because somehow alien organic soldiers with their guts exposed for the world to see, and shoot at, are less vulnerable then metal robotic doom machines. And although their weaponry is never explained, it is implied that it is plasma based.

5. It seems to me that the ceph at Lingshan and the ceph at central park at some point in their history separated, possibly through war. Which would explain the backstory of the crysis multiplayer where multiple alien crash sites are found throughout the world. If you look at their actual soldiers you can see the relationship. The claws on the crysis 2 aliens bear a stark resemblance to the original robotic soldiers in crysis 1. Even the shields on a few aliens resemble the skin tight shielding on the alien hunter from crysis 1 (as opposed to a star wars or trek bubble shield).

6. The ceph at Lingshan were stopped. If you played the original game to the end I think you would agree with me that it does seem pretty far fetched, especially given the literally uncountable alien squid machines passing through the clouds out to the world during your grand finale. But it is implied in the first game that there is a second carrier force within VTOL range. Most likely they scrambled fighters to intercept, and probably had numerous ships on hand to fire missiles. If you played the first game you probably remember the whole dogfight you had with the aliens while flying your VTOL, they are pretty susceptible to missile attacks. This is reinforced by the fact that the world public seems clueless to the events that happened on Lingshan. Something tells me that when nomad and psycho went back to the island they found prophet (because at most it was maybe an hour or two between when prophet left, and the ending scene of the game). And the three of them did something that destroyed or at least crippled the Lingshan ceph.

7. Prophet and Alcatraz are merged. Prophet is reincarnated as the suit computer itself, and Alcatraz is the operator. If that were false then the only explanation when you consider it is that the epilogue of Prophet talking to you is a hallucination. Because if Alcatraz (as many YouTube commenters claimed) are merely saying "they call me prophet" as a way to remember prophet then you still have the problem of, "why are you remembering a guy that obviously is far from being dead?".

8. Who is Rasch? No clue.

9. What's going to happen from here? Even less of a clue.

10. Are the other ceph going to wake up all at once? Probably not. The only reason the ceph woke up in the first game is because the US scientists woke them up (with a little NK help). This is symbolized at the beginning of the game by a big alien door with blue highlights opening up in a fairly ominous way. Which is another reason why the ceph in crysis 2 and crysis 1 separated, in crysis 2 the door that opened was practically the exact same in Prophet's flashbacks, except that it had red highlights. Because if we accept the line of reasoning that the aliens were patiently waiting for another ice age to reemerge then it answers several more questions. Including the one "Am I fighting the actual ceph aliens? Or are they actually human organic matter molded together?" My line of reasoning supports the latter. Simply because if your working in a hostile environment that will quickly kill you, why not send a drone to do your job for you?

11. Why do the ceph use bio warfare in crysis 2? Because they are separate from the ceph in crysis 1, you need to recognize that for all the pieces to fit into place. Just because Russia is populated with humans like we are doesn't mean our technology is identical. Obviously the ceph in crysis 1 preferred to use robotic systems to get the job done. The ceph in crysis 2 preferred biological weaponry. Both groups of ceph got very good at their respective specialties.

12. "So lets say your right sing, why did the ceph 'wake up' in crysis 2 if not because of a signal from the ceph crysis 1?" Well first let me disprove that line of reasoning that there actually was a "wake the hell up everyone it's time to blow some **** up" signal. It took the ceph in crysis 1 from the moment the NK assumed control to alien *not*apocalypse a few weeks at the most. If the aliens in crysis 1 sent out a signal then that implies it somehow took three years for the aliens in crysis 2 to wake up, they must have hit the snooze button a lot. "But wait sing, maybe it took them that long to collect enough organic matter!" three years? I doubt that CELL had NY locked down for three years and nobody asked any questions until recent events. Considering the lack of public knowledge I'd say that the point at which CELL locked down NY and the beginning of the campaign is at most, a month, and probably closer to a week or two. Which would resemble the amount of time it took the crysis 1 aliens to go from counting sheep in stasis chambers to "attempted" world domination.
In one of Prophet's flashbacks you see a red alien door opening, a symbol carried over from the first game. A symbol which means that the aliens have woken up. Then you see Prophet in the middle of the alien hive (as Hargreave would put it) looking at a holographic map of the earth. So it is fair to say that Prophet unintentionally triggered the events in crysis 2. More then likely because of what he learned from Hargreave after the events of the first game, that the ceph have been around a while. If I were Prophet, and he told me that, the first thing on my mind is "I need to find where exactly they are." That means entering an alien ship and finding the coordinates, which we all saw at the end of crysis 2. It is implied that Hargreave knew about the aliens under central park. Which makes sense because of the vague reference that he too entered an alien structure at Tunguska (whatever the hell that is) so it is conceivable that he too saw the exact same map that Prophet did. But it is never implied that he decided to send a team to enter the hive at central park, and given that he believed he was the only competent human in the world I doubt he wanted any other then himself to enter it. Which left him with a problem, the only way to get the nonsuit ready was to face off against the aliens again, namely enter the hive but given his condition he would only leave stasis once the nanosuit was ready. Then Prophet walked into his office like he was on a silver platter. From there he probably baited prophet with vague bits of information which lead him to enter the hive, which tripped some sort of alarm, which woke up the aliens, which began the events of crysis 2.

None of this is official, and I definitely doubt that I actually managed to hit the bull's eye with all of this. I'd actually be pleased if I got 50% of this right.

That's all I have at the moment.
