My i7 930 dont Bottleneck my 2 GTX 580's

He did say he would be benchmarking, at least in Vantage when running 2 x 580s there is going to be a cpu bottleneck that will lower the score. The day before yesterday I was benching vantage, 2 x 580s were getting a gpu score of ~51k, had to OC the 990x to 5.6Ghz to get a ~51k cpu score to keep a 51k overall score.
With an i7 920, even frozen & maxed clocks, I'd be lucky to get close to 45k overall score.

would my 975x at 4.5ghz be better or the same?!
6 cores vs. 4?

Pretty sure that the 980/970/990 is going to win.

Also those are 32nm parts, so they overclock better.

If you are spending that much on a proc, probably just spend the bit extra and buy the extreme part. you will thank yourself for the unlocked multi later.

Just remembered this was in the fs section http://www.overclock.net/main-components/978082-fs-intel-980x-1366-cpu-another.html, pretty good price. I looked at the bot & see he hasn't used it that much & took it easy on the voltage.

well off course a 6c is going to win vs a 4c ... but don't know that 32nm oc better than 45nm .... sounds good whatever i chose... but buying an unlocked 32nm can take me more time than having a 32nm like a 970 .... rolleyes.gif

the 3d can be closed.

If you do not have the money for a 990x then you do not have the money for the 980x cause they are still priced the same for the most part.

970 will make you a very happy guy...
