Someone explain the RAM things

Ok, there is something I dont quiet understand is. For example, the asus crosshair IV formula supports up to PC3-10600 so 1333mhz. But someone can run higher Mhz like 1600mhz? hows that?

Officially it only supports up to 1333mhz (AMD CPU specification). I guarantee you can go into your bios and manually set it to 1600mhz without having to adjust your FSB/HTT.

But, whats the downside if you overclock the memory to 1600mhz? overheating memory? sorry imma noob xD

So as I understand. If you want 1600mhz on a 1333mhz support motherboard you have to overclock your cpu and dram frequency?

and I've looked on my bios, and I could have up to 1600mhz on dram freq. But I only have 1333mhz memory so thats why my pc didn't boot :/
