when xbox 720086 (going by the current naming shenanigans, this name is as likely as any other name for the successor to the xbox 360) is released

Late 2012

Too bad the world is due to end about the same time. Damn Mayans.

I know, eh?! CPU and system memory are so under-utilized yet benchmarks and certain games struggle so much that the very BEST GPUs (in SLI or Crossfire) are desperately in need of being developed

It's so sad. CPU's aren't being fully used, system RAM is useless after a certain point (some say 4 gigs, other say 6 or 8), yet they keep introducing video card after video card to try and "keep games running at an acceptable smoothness". These companies have their priorities messed up! Well, actually, they don't; they have their eyes on the money and they're doing pretty well.

Ivy Bridge boards from Intel are supposed to have PCI-E 3.0, and they're likely coming out early 2012. I'd say we'll start seeing DX12 shortly after.
