Koekmeister, thanks for the info, I'll try it out.

sleepergsr, Also good info, thanks. Is there that much difference between the 890 boards? I won't argue that the C4 is top notch, I read that everywhere. But I think half the stuff on there I won't use, like all the PCI slots. I may still get one though, just wait for the taxes. Yup, I procrastinated. It literally only takes me 20 minutes but every year I wait till the last minute.
No problem 232bird

And let me know if it works

Wouldn't even POST. I tried setting voltages manually, no luck. I still think it is my CPU/NB not wanting to go over 2400. No matter, I'll use this board for my parents' build, they need a new system anyway, and don't care about overclocking.

Well, I just got home with a C4 Formula and a Radeon HD 6870. Since the parents' computer crashed I figured this would be a good excuse to upgrade, as well as get them into something more modern with the parts I am replacing. Of course i have to go to work in an hour, so I'll be back with the results in the morning.

Up and running just fine. Haven't done any OC'ing except to turn on the Turbo Unlocker in Turbo V. My windows install isn't taking the shock very well, so I need to reinstall to account for all new hardware before I can go any farther.

I dont know why you had problems overclocking with that board. I have the 785-V EVO which in my opinion is a step down from yours and I can get 4.04 stable on my 1055T. I run 3.71 daily becuase I run lower voltages (1.39 cpu, 1.2 cpu/nb, etc).

I've had the same board for 2 years (asus m4a79 evo). Though a quad core 965, I found it easy to get to 4 ghz. Been running stable since Feb 08'. Although it's been water cooled, maybe that's the difference?
