Feedback: Gtx 470 > gtx 570 or 560 Ti - Page 4

no i didnt thats why i said to go for the gigabyte etc bc the one i had couldnt increase voltage from what ive read the referance ones had a nvidia lock on the voltage and the non ref didnt have this,i could be wrong, but i still wasent happy i oced my 460 200mhz with no voltage increase so maybe i was spoiled by the 460 and expectin simalar results

anyway went with cheaper 6870 and im happy not the fastet card out but faster than 460 and got a heck of a deal on it

$20 more for a 20MHz increase? Lulwut? Get the cheaper one and OC it yourself.

If you flash the bios, perhaps. Otherwise it's 1.087v.

It has nothing to do with Afterburner... For my 470 I had to flash the bios to get it to go past 1.087v.

Im thinking of dropping some dollars on a gigabyte GTX 570 to replace my Gainwood GTX 470.

Purpose - Upgrade for CC

Context - My current clocks for the 470 are Core:776 / Shader: 1152 Mhz. Try as I might, Im on max volts now (1.089) and I am unable to get them any higher.

I do not want to flash the bios.

Question - Can I expect to see a reasonable increase in folding using a GTX 570 and how much extra can I expect to OC this card?

or

Am I wasting my money in upgrading?

Thanks for you input.
At 776/1152 it's pretty much on par with a GTX 570 dude. You won't see any noticeable differences in terms of FPS. Not sure about folding, never used that so I can't answer that question.

However, the GTX 570 has probs with OCing and you'll need to pay an extra $150 to upgrade from GTX 470 assuming you'll sell it for $200.

So it's a waste of money and not much of an upgrade at all. Only advantage I can think of is noise. I heard the 570 is a good card in that area.

Thanks Wulfgar - thats the type of info I was after.

Did not mean that it was Afterburner-specific, was more in reference to its stock limitations, should have left that particular software out of my comment I should have just said w/o a bios flash. It's been a long day

Personally I would just wait. I'm not going to upgrade until the 580s start selling cheap used. My watercooled 470 runs anything I want maxed out (except Metro which I hate and Crysis which I don't have).
