How did you choose your compression fittings?

Thread Starter
This may sound dumb but how did you get yourself ready to choose what compression fitting you needed at each port? I see a lot of builds and it looks like people order their fittings when they order everything else.

I'm doing my best by going off of other people's builds with the case I'm using but we're all different. Did you just visually look at things or did you set up all the water cooling parts and then looked at what you needed?

I'll be transferring my parts into a HAF-X.

I went with a barb setup first to see how my tube reacts to the different bends then I ordered my compressions (straight/45/90) to have the tubing bend easier. Depending on your case/parts/loop config you can generally tell which compressions you will need.

Put everything inside your case on air. Take a picture of your pc and then load it up in paint and draw where you think your pump/res/radiator and tubings runs will go. I basically just visualized what would make the tubing runs smoother. I have about 70% 45 degree compression rotaries simply because of the sharp bends in the HAF X, especially when mounting an external radiator.

if you don't mind doing a bit of modding the lian li pc-a70f
can fit a 140.3 push/pull up top(the rad needs to be less and 148mm wide) and a 120.2(only push, or only pull) behind the hdd case and still fit 12" cards if the pci-e power connector is facing the side of the card

I just got some because they were on special. got me 24 tfc 1/2x3/4 nickel plated compression fittings, though I have mainly used that tube size for most of my builds. At this size, it can be a pita to install them as well as having clearance issues, so do prepare yourself for ordering last minute fittings, adapters, angled fittings, etc. good luck

Ya I already got it. Theres plenty of room on top for a 360. Im also putting a 240 in the rear external. Check out Dont Hassle the Haf thread by Septro. Very nice setup. Im going to go with just my one 655 pump and an EK 140 res top for it like his second pic.

Check out my sig for pics of my HAF X build before I added a second GTX480 and a 480 rad. Just for ideas.

Edit: realized imageshack has removed some of my pics somehow.
