Z506 bad choice?

Thread Starter
I got the z506 speakers for Christmas, because there was absolutely no other 5.1 speaker system at the time at my budget of $100. Now I'm starting to think it was a bad choice. Should I get new speakers or are these not as terrible as everyone makes them out to be.

Could've done better for the price. Swan M10s?

I don't think a sound card would increase the power/loudness of your speakers, only the quality of sound.

No, power/loudness is controlled by the speakers (assuming you have the max sound in your PC). It would improve quality though if you got the sound card, but its kinda ify there, you would not hear a difference with a low end soundcard over your onboard.

It depends on how much of an audio head you are. If you are into sound and how it sounds, than yes, they were a bad choice. However, if you just want average computer audio, they will be fine for your listening needs.

One question though. Why did you get a 5.1 setup? Did you actually set them up in a 5.1 or are they all on your desk?

On a side note. It is not the speakers that increase volume, but the amp. Most computer desktop speakers have amps built into the sub-woofers. this amp is the driver for increasing volume, not the speakers.

You bumped an hour after you made the topic. Try giving it some more time.

In response to this question: no

You certainly aren't getting the benefit of 5.1 when all the speakers are on your desk unless your desk goes all the way around you/is U shaped.

Idk, my friends had 5.1, so i figured I should get 5.1 too. But seeing as I upgraded from a 2 speaker setup, its actually not too bad when I think about it. Plus, I have gaming headphones too.

Actually forget it, I'm happy with my setup, even if the speakers are a lousy 5.1, they're still better than my old ones. And yes I'm going to get a $160 sound card, but not exactly for the speakers.. I'm getting it for my headset.
