$2000 build ... this oughta be interesting

My roommate is crazy, he is dropping $2,000 on a PC and he want me to help him since he's clueless with hardware. I'm no professional either so I'd just like to get some advice on value and compatibility. Also, I've always been an Intel person so not very knowledgeable with AMD. If someone can maybe recommend an AMD system (CPU, motherboard, etc.) that can perform on par with this system, it'd be great:

CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K
MBo: Asus Maximum IV P67
GPU: Asus GTX 560 Ti DirectCU II TOP
RAM: Corsair Dominator GT 2X4GB CMT8GX3M2A2000C9
PSU: Corsair AX850 80+ Gold
SSD: Intel 320 Series GEN3 160GB
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB WD10EALX
DVD: Asus DRW-24B1ST Bulk
Case: Corsair 600T
Cooler: Corsair H70
Wireless: TP-Link TL-WN722N

Total comes to ~$1,980 after taxes.

Wadaya think?

Im at a bit of a loss as to why this is totaling ~$1900. Is this a prebuilt computer?

Also, what country are we in?

If it were me I would fo for a I7 2600k instead its like $90 more on newegg. but the i7s are soo much better. The i5 that u are looking at sdoesnt have hyper threadding and i think that the extra money is worth it and its more future proof.

that is not alot of power for $2k

What level of overclocking would you friend be comfortable with, if any?

I would definitely drop that overpriced motherboard for a more powerful GPU
I would also drop the h70 for either the h60 for the better square mounting bracket, or even better an XSPC Rasa RS240

This is in Canada (13% tax). I'm not sure of how much he is going to OC. He just says he wants reliable and good parts. I don't think H/T will benefit him in any way.

I don't think that 560Ti stands even close to "wicked fast"... For those money, I'do go with a GTX570 or even 580. You can even drop the PSU to a 750W one if your friend doesn't plan to go SLI.
Moreover, maybe Vengeance memory is best performance-price proportion if not going with extreme overclock.
