I don't understand you folks saying you'd pay $100 more if they both get the job done already. The money saved from the power draw isn't even worth it. Use that $100 and get a SSD instead like CryWin said.

Heck if you don't want a SSD for whatever weird reason, get some beer and a hooker with $100 instead.

Again does anyone here even use zacate? It seems to be very hit and miss on what the cpu can actually do. If dxva is working then fine. But plenty of users have reported that when playback is reliant on the cpu it can choke. i.e. silverlight.

I've seen numerous folks that gave up and returned it for a "normal" cpu. You can have your just barely good enough hardware. I'd rather have a cpu for a little more that will decode any video on its own no problem.

Intel atom anyone?
Except the Atom is slower than Zacate so it couldn't have any hope of doing stuff Zacate can't...And Core i3 has the BluRay refresh rate issue.

To make a purely silent PC, a Core i3 would cost a lot more too as you'd need to buy a fanless heatsink (You can get Zacate with fanless heatsinks and you want the minimum possible amount of fans in a HTPC)

Zacates cou is not all that much better then atom. An athlon x2 still crushes it. Zacates strong point is the graphics.

And half the people complaining about 23.976 don't even have a tv that does 24p properly so it won't even affect them.

I don't care about half the people. I care about me. And my TV will do 23.976Hz and 24Hz just fine.

It works, so does vimeo HD and youtube. 1080p youtube is the only area that gives me problems on occasion when I'm running other things in the background. This is with the html 5 player on chrome if I recall.

I agree thats why I have a discrete card in mine. But i tjust gets tired when people say it that don't even use it. Anyways no card really does 23.976 perfect.
