Help Deciding...

Thread Starter
I posted this thread earlier about my $1442.62 build that I am looking at building for gaming:
http://www.overclock.net/intel-gener...ati-build.html

But lately I have heard news about Intel's Ivybridge and nVidia's Tesla architecture.

Should I wait for those to hit the market before I go ahead with my purchase? Will they be coming in 2011? And do you think I can still build a gaming rig for under $1500 or will it be quite a bit higher when those new cards hit?

Thanks

Ivy Bridge is beginning of next year (see below):

http://www.overclock.net/hardware-ne...dy-bridge.html

And nVidia's "Tesla" technology is for GPU computing not for games. Furthermore, it has been around for a while now. (again below)

Hope that helps

I kind of doubt Ivy Bridge is coming in 2011 - maybe in time for Christmas, if that early. Just a guess, though.

I say your system is totally fine. Spend $250 on a 6950 and get a nice 24" monitor and you'll be set for a good while. $450 < $1400

Edit: Ninja'd.

There is always something new just around the corner ...... if that is how we go then one would most of the time end up waiting ........ go for your current rig ....
