Really struggling here to not switch to Intel, been waiting and waiting for Bulldozer but its just getting to much, lol.I'm not interested in Sandy Bridge as i dont really see this as an enthusiast chip due to the overclocking being multiplier only, kinda kills the fun of tweaking.Have been tempted by 1366 though, mainly for looks because of the new ASUS Rampage III Black Edition.Keep thinking about it with 2 Gainward GTX570 Phantom's,would look amazing in my table mod which i'm planning.

Silly thing is it'll cost more and perform less than Bulldozer but the wait is really getting to me.Wish AMD and motherboard manafacturers would just get a move on,surely the motherboards can be released.I am aware that 890 boards are being released with AM3+ socket but i dont want that junk, its all or nothing.

Has anyone jumped from AMD to Intel because the wait?I am trying my best but its getting bad,i not a fanboy but i've always supported AMD as i love to back the underdog. Also this build will need to have good looks and so far no pictures of 990FX boards is not helping matters.

I say if you have waited this long u can wait for another few months.

Im waiting for BD Too.

Iwe had P55 with i7's and i3's i7 950 and lot of other configs, iwe now settled for a quad LGA 775 system i got for really cheap and TBH it does all the things i need. So stick it out for BD

The SB series that have the unlocked multiplier is like the Black edition AMD cpus, this will allow higher clocks with ease. Also from what I hear is that the i5 2500k runs better and slightly faster than AMD's x6 cpus and wont bottleneck high end gpus in sli/cfx. Im mainly hopping to intel for their innovative tech while AMD has been putting out the same tech with more cores for YEARS now.
Also another thing to consider is that the intel chips dont require as much power and their motherboards have much better power phasing than AMD has.

I'd say go 1155 now if you can't wait. If you can wait until June, see what bulldozer has in store (personlly, I think Intel will still hold top performance). Just do what you think you want to do (you don't want to regret your purchase one way or the other).

Thing is i dont like using just the multi,to me its not real overclocking, not to mention FSB increase is better for overall performance.I will never buy Sandy Bridge, just dont like it,too many problems with quick sync etc and new motherboards changing over to Q67,seems to me that people are just getting ripped off, that board shoulda been out to start with.

Its the Asus Rampage III Black Edition and Gainward 570 Phantom's that are making me think 1366.The feature list on the mobo and the looks are just incredible and the Phantom's are stunning aswell. If i manage to wait i hope that the AMD boards have a equivalent looking design, gotta love the black, just goes with any colour fans or fluid colour.

I agree completly! ( waiting for the Sandybridge brigade to crash this thread!!!)
But i wonder if waiting isnt the best bet! Because ivy bridge is coming /as well as bulldozer ! Although 1366 is still the enthusiast socket! I fear dumping a $1000 cpu into a aging socket might be jumping the gun! Even though i know it would be a respectable system for a long while!

Well then yeah you should stick to old tech if you want hard mode overclocking and to sit there for a long time messing with the settings and hope you have stable temps and clocks.

Sorry but technology is leaping ahead to where it's easier to do things that used to take hours upon hours to do, and turning it into minutes. Rather spend less time configuring a cpu for stability and jump straight into a game and start killing my foes

Finally someone agree's.Ivy Bridge will probably be the same, multi only aswell. Its a shame really, otherwise i'm sure a lot more enthusiast's would embrace it.If i was to go 1366 i was thinking 970.I know 2600K is better value but the tweaking not available just is a big no no.After all if i spend money on a PC i want to work on it then play. They should get the IGP off of the K chip's,i mean thier aimed at enthusiasts/overclockers,and who the hell outa that crowd use IGP.
