Should I buy this monitor?

The VH236H goes for 179.99 + shipping on newegg.com. I got a friend of mine who is selling his for 140 but it has one dead pixel. Its in great shape but has that one spot. How much do you guys think its worth/how much you would pay for it?

Cheap friend.

Not anything to be honest. Dont have bussiness like this with friends. You shouldnt really need to negotiate with friends.

Either you give away stuff to friends for free or give a really good friend price. This is clearly not the case here which means that you simply shouldnt get involved in any moneyissues at all with this person because he is cheap.

Agree on both terms. 1 pixel could lead to more later on down the line. Its faulty as is.

Hope this helped

A monitor is a monitor. Faulty is faulty. Friends however in this case are not trustable .

Hey guys thanks for the input, he isn't a close friend. He was a old coworker of mine. He told me 125 now. Is that reasonable? or is it worth lower? I usually deal with new monitors but when buying use and having a dead pixel I'm not sure how low does it go. I see on amazon that refurb goes for 139.99 +20 shipping. Its something for my brother.

I'd say $90-$100. That dead pixel kills the price. The warranty typically also won't cover it unless there are 5 or more in one area. It sounds like your friend is trying to scam you so he gets his money back for a new display.
