Hey guys I recently got a 2.5 hard drive but I don't plan on using it for the next 2 weeks but I want to make sure it works for returns purposes. How do I test it to make sure its working properly?

I usually use a external enclosure to test/reformat drives! Much easier (imo)

Is it sata or IDE??

Plug in the needed wires and connect to your desktop... If it works it works

Well, you plug it in and turn it on.

If you have a desktop computer to test with, you can just attach a SATA data and power cable to the 2.5 drive and it will function as a normal drive would.

If you have a laptop for testing, you would need an external enclosure.

Yeah, the power and data ports on SATA laptop drives are exactly the same as a desktop pc, you could just run it in your sig rig.
