Not too much is known yet about the upcoming chipset from AMD and with 890FX motherboard prices going lower and lower (I see you Crosshair IV) ... I am very much tempted to jump ship and pull the trigger and just swap CPUs later

In your opinion, is 990FX worth the wait?
I believe it will be worth the wait and it's not that far way. You may kick yourself for not waiting.

990X will also have official SLI support
I would wait mate
No, it doesn't seem like it will be worth the wait, sort of like how 890FX wasn't a HUGE improvement over 790FX.

The only upside is native SLI support, and judging by your Crossfired 6950s, you don't care about SLI.

Get the 890FX and enjoy it now rather than waiting for something that will be nearly the same. The Crosshair IV Formula will accept Bulldozer CPUs so theres really no reason to wait.

Also the south bridge wont be much different either, just extra x1 lanes.

I'm going through a very similar dilemma here, and I'm seriously thinking of getting this "Black Socket" ASRock 890FX board. I don't want to wait mainly because I'm going to be water cooling my rig, and I don't want to have to redo my loop and all for a motherboard upgrade in the future that might not even be worth the wait.

If I were you, and I have no more reason to get one now than later, I would just wait.

Good decision if anyone is wanting an FX board with AM3+, and is skeptical about the ASUS bios update.

If you don't need the rig yet I would wait just because of the price drops.
Personally, I would wait for it.
