SLI + Mixing Cards question

Thread Starter
I'm currently running 2xSLI BFG Geforce 275 OCXs (stock overclocked to 709 core clock) and I'm looking to add a third card.

I'm really having a difficult time finding another OCX version of the card... anyway...

I found a cheap OC Version of the card (which runs at 648 Core Clock). Can I toss that into the loop without a problem? From what I've read I can, so long as they are the same chipset.

What happens to the Core Clock discrepancies? Can I just overclock the OC (648) to run at the speeds of the OCX (709) or do my 709's get bumped down to 648?

Thanks,
ASU

You can install another 275 with a lower oc. You can either bump the oc it to 709 core or the SLI will run as fast as the slowest card. In your case it will be 648 core clock.

Hi VXASUXV. As Desert Rat said, the setup would run at the lowest clocks if you didn't adjust the lower clocked one first. Also, when running SLI you just need to make sure the cards have the same chipset and memory size to avoid any issues.

Awesome, thanks guys.

I just wanted to double check prior to making any commitments

I have run SLI before but never tri-SLI. Before you invest on tri-SLI, ensure the scaling will be decent.

if your gonna run tri sli you need to know your processor may start to cause a bottle neck. so dont be disappointed if you dont get super gains.

To be completely honest, I really haven't been all that impressed with SLI in the first place. Now I'm just kinda goofing around and I want to test some overclocking and shoot for some benchmark scores.
