Neither OCN nor reviews are helping me D:. I'm looking to use the modified bios 6950 to unlock shaders, then approach or go past 1000mhz core, who knows what with shader, and leave memory alone.

Actually scratch this. The Frozr III is the power edition! On MSIs site atleast!

This is stil open to which card is better! Do both cards have the OC potential to be worth more than a stock card? And the Frozr III seems like a better option to me. Gives good cooling potential and better voltage regulation. The question is, does the triple slot asus have what it takes to cost $324?
I was looking hard at the twin frozr, but for that money, you can buy a 6970 and add a new cooler later if you're not happy. Newegg has the msi reference 6970 for $315 after rebate. I actually got the newer sapphire 6970 with the black shroud. $339 after rebate. Just my 2 cents. For the same money, you're guaranteed stable 6970 performance

Ya I had a non ref XFX 6950 and the fan was quite. I didnt like the card and got a MSI 6970 ref card and that fan is crazy loud. I am going to have to go to water cooling very soon.

With it's loud and awful fan? I mean don't get me wrong 6970s are true performers, but I hate rebate checks and also hate stock cooling. The twin Frozr is $300 and the asus is $324. Granted a reference 6970 is close by but will a max overclocked 6950 1000mhz (and silent fan remember this is in a fractal design case) with shaders unlocked beat a max OC reference cooling 6970 which is loud and proud?
I pose this question to you, because if this is true then yes it is worth purchasing the 6970 flat out.

I'd have to say Twin Frozr III. It's got a better cooler and it still has a BIOS switch.

Really?! Then wth did asus make the card 3 slots long and charge more ??????!!!!!!
Coolness may just get the Frozr III

Both techpowerup and geeks say both cards can easily go past 1000mhz.. Question is which to get.

I wonder if the Frozr III is quiet or gives the same level of cooling performance as the Asus, because then I'll sure go to the Frozr III and this will be a done deal

My power edition 6950 will be here in a day or 2x.. Watch for my thread in the ATI section. I will be doing mods/unlocking and maybe some DI or LN if I can manage some time off this month.
