I can't believe there are people that aren't bothered that new games are designed to look the same on a 7800gtx/pentium4/512 ram (GPU+system!) console as on a standard mid-high range gaming computer that has 10x the power.

Oh wait, we get higher res textures.

It's sad to see that developers don't even take the effort to take advantage of modern PC hardware.

edit: It's not that hard to at least pop in an ambient occlusion algorithm (NVIDIA has one they urge developers to use) or throw in some tessellation. Thinking about this really pisses me off, as TES 3/4 looked amazing for their time and used every trick up their sleeve in order to make the graphics look amazing when maxed out.

These look like Oblivion... http://cdn.medialib.computerandvideo...hot_252357.jpg

Yes because game developers are only in business to make you happy; shareholders are not a concern. Unless you work for a not for profit orginization, you engage in the same behavior.

Until the next cycle of consoles you are pretty much SOL on pushing the latest and greatest hardware, unless you are running multiple monitors. Maybe Nintendo (lol) will push the graphics forward with their next release?

We have paid for hardware which is soo badly utilized its appaling. By the time they make games worthy of the gpu setups we have, there will have been no point in paying top dollar like we did, and our setups will cost 25% of what we paid and all have grey hair. You would think nvidia and amd would encourage devs to make truly next gen titles for the pc, to give gamers proper reasons to buy the hardware.

After this lesson its safe to say I wont be spending another penny on a gpu untill my setup actually cant handle whats out there

Actually the article confirms that PC version has higher texture resolution. They say that game is going to look same as console version, because console users sits about six feet away from the screen.

Quote:
"But most of that... What we want at the end of the day is that the game looks the same. The benefit you get is when you're playing a PC game you're playing this far away [demonstrates a short distance], when you're at home on your console you're usually sitting about six feet away so the game looks the same."

Sick and tired of these crappy companies. Valve is probably going to be the last company left. Hopefully the DICE team behind BF3 doesn't follow this path.

This is what OCN members QQ about the most, and I don't blame any of you guys. I would be pissed too If this is how it's going to be from now on I'll just go back to playing consoles. No reason to spend money on my rig if the games aren't going to be utilized for it

Why are people getting mad over the graphics of games that they haven't seen yet. And besides if you were a gaming company you would focus on consoles too considering the bigger market. (even if you wouldnt focus on consoles 99% of the company would)

Lol. It's funny, every game is a console port except of maybe 1 or 2 AAA titles a year and everyone still gets pissed off about it.
