Joking aside, my only true gripe is the UI. Something that seems to be getting worse with each new TES title.

We know that it's better from a business standpoint, but people are whining and complaining because they are sad to see the industry change and would like to have the same kinds of products that they could experience before the current gen of consoles.

Where are the days of quake, doom, etc. Where is the technical innovation? I know that gameplay is the most important bit and no game is anything without it, but could we for one get a game that's also technologically groundbreaking? And not just to how well it runs on the outdated console platforms.

People do not want the same looking game over and over and over again, they want something better, and up until this point we've always been getting better looking products, since the progress has somewhat stalled, it's no wonder the people who care for graphics are whining.
Well said.

That would make sense, except for the fact that neither AMD or Nvidia generate significant revenue in the high end GPU sector. The majority of revenue is generated by server GPU's, onboard GPU chips, and mid to low end cards. They know that regardless of whether or not games require high end cards, some rich kid or geek concerned about their e-peen will buy it anyways. Nvidia seems more concerned about distributing PhysX to developers.

OC, I understand this. I guess my bigger complaint is the following. Why can't someone develop a game engine that will scale up or down for the end user's hardware? Preferably, made for the PC, then ported or scaled down to the console, so it doesn't tax the hardware. Or hell, just for the PC for that matter. I just don't get it. Not everyone wants to drive a GM or Toyota product, so there are high end companies like Ferrari in automobiles....more to follow...dinner time.

As long as it's not a buggy, unlaunchable POS with incredibly unintuitive inventory menus, then I could care less about 1-upping consoles.

NO MORE GAMES will be made on the gamebyro engine, it is dead.

Already been stated before they used a new engine. If they didn't I probably would have not even thought about buying their game.
Let me google that for you.

"We then rewrote all the major graphics and gameplay systems including lighting, shadows, level of detail, animation, interface, scripting, dialogue, quest systems, melee, magic, and more. All of those changes made it into our internal editor as well. So much had changed that we decided to call the engine and editor by a new name, the Creation Engine and the Creation Kit."

Interesting as everything, and I mean everything I had read up until your article, indicated a new engine not a reworked Gamebryo engine. Which, IMO, means bad things for me at least. I haven't been able to run a Bethesda game without crashes for the past 3 years or better. Annoying as heck.

Cont. from post #124

mmmmm......meatloaf....anyway, I enjoy a richer experience. By tweaking existing hardware or purchasing a new CPU or GPU, I am willing to pursue that goal. From what I read here on OCN, I believe there are many like-minded people here, as well. I know that doesn't mean that a game developer has to provide it or that a shareholder has to finance my whims. I am not owed anything, nor did anyone make me purchase a certain level of hardware. But dang it guys, we are sliding toward mediocrity. Worse yet, we are accepting that mediocrity as the norm. You can complain, but careful not to complain too much for fear they (the developers) will take away what little they give us. Does this not sound effed up? So yes, I resent being linked to the consoles and their aging hardware. Why? Cause I want a better mousetrap.....just waiting for someone to build it. Sorry for the rant....I will buy everyone a beer.

OK, won't be playing it then.
Too bad.
