I honestly didn't think I'd see the day when someone looks a screenshot like this in disgust and won't even though the game because of "bad graphics" (and this is only the 720p screenshot...):
I agree with 5entinel. This is a quite mediocre screenshot. Notice that virtually nothing in that screen is casting a shadow? Considering that shadows were the only area of significant graphical improvement over Oblivion (beyond the obvious art quality), that's pretty meh.

The counter-whiners (people who whine at people who are critical of the game they are fanboys over) need to wake up. Did we all enjoy at least one of the previous Elder Scrolls? Probably. But what was one of the main attractions of those games?

Stunning graphics for their time.

Like it or not, that is something Skyrim will be missing. Bethesda seriously needs to make up for it with ridiculous amounts of storyline and atmosphere (which I doubt after their Oblivification).

There are shadows, and they aren't done with them yet. This is not how the final froject will look...

Ohh, ohh, me next! Tell me how bad this game is going to be based on the graphics, now:

Just look at how lazy the shadows are in this game, just little circles underneath the players...this is just embarrassing...This game isnt even worth my time!

They made up for it with gameplay, which is the opposite in most modern games sadly.

The main quest to that game was actually worth playing. I cannot say the same for Oblivion. Also the UI was able to show more items in the inventory on screen than Oblivion's UI. Sad truth.

Catering to consoles....smh

This what we can expect for Fallout 4??

Granted, its not fair to compare Zelda to Oblivion, but Oblivion was an awesome game when it comes down to it. It doesn't quite have as good of a story or atmosphere or environment that Morrowind had, but its still an amazing game. As far that the genre goes, there really is no better game than Oblivion other than Morrowind itself.

Bethesda pre-release screenshots are usually better quality than the end product from my experience with the Bethesda hype machine.

There is no global lighting in that scene, and not even much (any?) object shadowing that I can see. It's basically going to be Oblivion graphics with a boosted poly count, higher res textures, and a non-crappy implementation of view distance LOD scaling from the looks of it.

Seeing as we have GPUs 5x faster and 2 more DX levels I don't see how this is not disappointing from a series that has historically pushed the limits of current hardware when cranked to max (at least spend a few days on a DX11 code path to tessellate some rocks like Call Of Pripyat did).

You do realize that tessellation used in Heaven for certain parts of a scene and texture sizes are the main difference in processing power between a PC and a console, right?
