[CVG] Skyrim 'looks the same' when playing on PC and console - Bethesda - Page 22

I'm just saying it's obvious that devs are making games for the console market in mind because that's were the money is. I've spent a decent amount of money on PC hardware to have a better experience than consoles and I can't see myself doing it again, when devs are admitting the game will look the same on all platforms.

BF3 isn't going to save PC gamers from what these devs are doing. The advantage of better visuals, controls and innovation is now a waste of time to them. I would start enjoying games again if I go back to consoles for my primary gaming platform. No need to worry about DX11 patches, placeholder console commands, aim assist, lack of native PC controls, minimal PC graphic enhancements, buggy game releases. Bah, ever since I 've been PC gaming, it's been more about what I don't have than what we do have.

I just want to have fun again.
Look at the bright side. Saving money is always a good thing!

That's an extremely pessimistic way of looking at the current scenario.

I don't give a rats ass about me having superior graphics than consoles. I care about having a high resolution and proper KB + M. I want those. I don't care if consoles have them. If I have them, the game is good enough, and not totally unplayable.

Graphics don't make a game, the game does. Why look at something you don't have when you have it all already? You ain't missing out on a game unless you ignore the game and complain about the port.

Heck, I'm running almost unmodded morrowind ATM and I have no interest in wasting time to make it look better with mods. I just upped the view distance and that's that. I have no further interest in making it look better. The game itself is good for me, no need to worry about the graphics.

This is OCN, gameplay doesn't matter and is for console kiddies, only important thing is what DX version the game's running and if it's a good benchmark. Also any game that can be runned with anything less than Tri-SLi GTX 580 is a console port and isn't worth the money.

The world rendering is fine. Same with the world rendering in oblvion but the characters are way way too low rez. It even looks comical. It's like you are throwing a 8 bit character into a high rez game world. Until you mod the character skins it just doesn't MATCH. It seriously looks like dx 8 character in a dx 9 world.

I still don't know about the view distance. I can turn it up and most of my video cards can chew it up but you can see so freaking far it's like bizarre. Even with the timer set way way down "set timescale to 8" it puts most things about 30 to 45 minutes run speed away or a bit less on super fast horse mod. But you can see halfway to where you are going.

The Witcher 2 should be schooling about all game publishers that betrayed the PC platform. TW1 started as a low budget title but impressed the world with its story arc, atmosphere and action/consequence scheme (but yes it had its share of technical problems before the free upgrade patch called "Enhanced Edition" and in fact this is the single fact that raised CDProjekt to like god-status: giving the extra mile for free to their customers to not only fix but also improve the game).

TW2 however is set to become THE AAA title for PC this year 2011. I know I will be unavailable to friends/family/world for a certain time untill I finished TW2 lol

I don't get people like you, i really don't. How could you call it a good port, bad port, poor port or any port at all without the game coming out first? Who cares if it looks the same, quit trying to 1-up consoles. As long as it's relatively bug free and has some of the quirks smoothed out ( something Bethesda games always fail at ), it should be a solid release.

When did the console kiddies get smarter than the PC-elitists-master-race?

I don't really care as long as the game is fun, has some good puzzles, there is a lot of things to do and has no stupid bugs I will be happy.

If you care about graphics just wait a bit and someone will create a mod for better graphics .

Never, console fanboys and PC elitists are about as dumb, one group need to justify the brand they chose and the other need to justify all the money they spent on hardware, while real gamers can just kick back and enjoy games regardless of the platform or the DX version it uses.

So wait a minute let me get this straight: The PC edition will offer extra textures, but it will look the same?

Uhhh, so what's the point in making the extra textures?
