I would like to ask you this lord. Explain DA2, and the fact that they reuse basically everything in the game. Maps, NPCS, The put basically the entire game in the same nonchanging kirkwall. This is bioware, Who has the money, the people, everything. In which they can make a AAA title, but none of the polish is there. No depth to anything in the game. Bethsoft also has the team to do everything.

The game is filled with like 100 found an item return to person who lost it quests, as filler. WTH were they doing with the game when they have just a few levels built but still manage to not push anything further in the game creatively.
I haven't played DA2 yet, but it sounds like those are design problems, which could've probably been handled regardless of time. I make no excuses for poor design.

Developers and publishers are in the business to make money, not cater to an extremely small group of whiners.

IMHO, I am glad they are no longer jumping to new engines for each game. New engines means:

- More bugs until developers figure everything out
- Longer development time on graphics and less on things that are actually important, such as gameplay and storyline
- Greater urgency on the consumer end to upgrade graphics cards or processors (IE wasting money)

At the end of the day, this is a game. A game is suppose to be fun. It doesn't have to be realistic or even advanced, just enjoyable. If saturating your eyeballs with fancy eye candy is the only way for you to enjoy games, I genuinely feel sorry for you guys. Hell I have yet to play a game where I logged in more hours than I did on Mario World 3 and still revisit old school games like FFT and Mario RPG.

Skyrim uses the a new enigine developed internally by Bethesda called "Creation Engine." It's the first time they've used a new engine since Morrowind which used Gamebryo.

1) This is not entirely true. The "Creation Engine" is just a modified Gamebryo engine. Kinda like how Oblivion's Gamebryo was heavily modified from Morrowind's version.

2) I'm pretty sure CVG's headline is trolling. It looks like Todd was equivocating, suggesting on the one hand that Skyrim's gonna have some high res stuff that will be enabled on PC so that it won't look like crap sitting 4 feet away, and on the other hand that in the end they want the two versions to look the same.

Overall, I have almost zero confidence. We know which version has priority.

Sorry for the confusion. That statement was in response to people talking about why developers don't push graphics to the limit. Original DNF concept fail prey because the graphics they were working on never stayed enough. I would rather an engine gets explored in its entirety before moving on so more games can be less buggy on launch day. I dislike CTD's and graphical bugs that come with new engines way more than inferior graphics. I can easily forgive shoddy textures as long as the game is enjoyable. CTD's and graphical bugs completely ruin the experience and waiting weeks on ends for patches does not help matters either.

where did you see that its just a modified gamebryo.

From what i have read, Bethsoft said that it is entirely new, not a modified gamebryo engine.
